Nintendo has announced a brand new Nintendo Direct, with this latest one focusing entirely on the company's biggest release for the rest of 2023 – Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Nintendo announced Super Mario Bros. Wonder at the end of the June 2023 Nintendo Direct, but since then we haven't really heard much about the game. At least up until last week when we found out that long-time Mario voice actor Charles Martinet is no longer voicing the plumber. Considering the game is coming out in just under two months on October 20, 2023 it's about time that Nintendo began to show us more about Super Mario's next adventure.

Thankfully Nintendo took to Twitter earlier this week to announce a dedicated Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Direct presentation to show us a little more of the title, much like the dedicated Nintendo Direct for Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom back in March. The company promises an in-depth look at Mario's next platforming adventure, so hopefully we can figure out what exactly is going on with that talking flower and weird elephant Mario powerup.

Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Direct start time and how to watch

The Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Direct start time is set for 3pm BST / 10am EDT / 7am PDT on Thursday, August 31. The Direct is set to run for roughly 15 minutes, so it's a nice, brief update. You'll be able to watch the Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Direct on Nintendo's official YouTube channel. Nintendo didn't include a link to its Twitch channel in the announcement Tweet, but Nintendo Directs are typically streamed there too.

Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Direct what to expect

Nintendo has described the Super Mario Bros Wonder Nintendo Direct as an in-depth look at the game, so presumably we'll be run through the new mechanics seen in the original trailer. The major ones being the Wonder Flowers and Wonder Seeds which seem to turn Mario's world into a trippy landscape where pipes begin to move and Goombas can extend themselves.

We'll also hopefully get a look at what seems to be Super Mario Bros Wonder's main powerup – Elephant Mario – and find out exactly what the purple coins are used for.

While some may be expecting Nintendo to announce who is picking up the red cap from Charles Martinet in Super Mario Bros Wonder, the company's statement to IGN said "character voice actors will be credited in the game credits, so please wait for the game to be released."

So it looks like we won't find out who the new Mario is until the game actually releases in October.
