Piercings have always been trendy, with the Noughties favouring navel jewellery and punk nose rings in the Seventies and Eighties. Celebrities are the trend-setters, with fans asking for hairstyles, tattoos and piercings inspired by their idols.

So where does your favourite celeb go to get their ear pierced? Often you'll find the answer is London's family run studio, Metal Morphosis.

The piercing business has been open since 1991 with well known clients becoming a firm fixture of the expert studio.

Recently, Metal Morphosis shared a visit from a famous face on their social accounts - actress Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things fame came to get pierced but she didn't just want one.

Father and son owners Matthew and Ben Harris told The Mirror how the 19-year-old actress has become a regular customer for the studio, sitting through multiple piercings in one day.

Ben recalled the first time Millie visited, as she came with her boyfriend Jake Bongiovi, the son of Jon Bon Jovi. Ben said: "He came in for a helix piercing and she didn't get a piercing but they'd obviously seen Metal Morphosis before.

He laughed: "My staff called me like 'Oh my God', everyone's on the WhatsApp group freaking out and saying 'Millie Bobby Brown's in here' - I said 'just relax, just serve her'. They came in with a bodyguard who stood outside the shop and it was quite chilled."

Metal Morphosis staff also chose to clear out the entire studio to give the couple space to browse and get pierced without being interrupted by well meaning fans.

Impressed with the service, Millie and Jake came back just a few weeks later but asked for something Metal Morphosis doesn't see often - loads of piercings in one sitting.

"She asked for lobe, helix and her navel, so that's quite a lot of piercings in one day," Ben explained.

Initially, Metal Morphosis staff warned her that it might hurt having so many in one go but Ben joked that they weren't going to "turn down" the determined Emmy nominee.

Resident piercer Meghan did all of Millie's piercings that day, although she hasn't been piercing professionally for "as long as some of the others".

Ben said "she handled it really well" and joked that his advice to the piercer was "don't f*** this up".

As for the 19-year-old actress, she "took it like a champ" with an impressed Meghan adding: "She didn't flinch once".

"Sometimes multiple piercings in one day can get the better of customers," Ben said, "but Millie's a bit of a superstar, she's quite brave".

Metal Morphosis often get famous visitors, so much so they "filled up a whole wall of Polaroids of all kinds of celebrity piercing customers".

Unfortunately, Ben missed out on meeting the Enola Holmes star as he was in Berlin scouting out new jewellery collections but called up and thanked her for coming to the Carnaby Street studio.

"I told her we're always a safe space to come, if [she] ever wanted to come and get new piercings," he added. Millie surprised the owner by sharing that she loves the studio and had seen them online before visiting.

Ben concluded: "That was a real kick to see that someone with 60 million followers has actually come here. Not just stumbled across us but actually made a beeline to come to the shop. Not once but twice."
