Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine has finally showed off her new baby five months after giving birth.

The actress - best know for her role as Fiz Stape in the soap - welcomed baby daughter Doris over Easter and has kept the news private until now. Jennie, 38, announced her third pregnancy when she was six months along having discovered her baby news while enjoying a camping trip with husband Chris Farr and their two children Hilda, four, and Albert, eight.

Jennie has confessed she wanted to keep Doris' birth away from the public for as long as possible so they could stay in the newborn bubble. At nearly five months old, Doris has made her first introduction to the public eye in a stunning photoshoot with her mum. In the gorgeous pics, Jennie beams at her newborn daughter as they share a cuddle on a sofa.

The mum-of-three looked stunning in a blue dress as she gave a loving gaze to her baby. In another snap, the soap star could be seen holing Doris as they both wore white dresses. Jennie kept Doris' face covered for the OK! Magazine photoshoot, but had her cradled in her arms. The couple decided they didn't want to know Doris' gender until she was born and shared how they drew up a shortlist of both boys' and girls' names.

Their son Albert took the task very seriously, as Jennie confessed it was a "big conversation" in their house. On finally picking the name she told the magazine: "Doris is a family name and I love that it goes with Albert and Hilda. They’re also all very ‘Corrie’. The actress who played the first Rovers landlady, Annie Walker, was called Doris Speed so there’s obviously something in my DNA that means these baby names keep happening!"

Her daughter’s name Hilda was inspired by Corrie character Hilda Ogden, who was played by the late Jean Alexander. Jennie also explained how she loves giving birth - describing it as "the most special thing in the world. It actually makes her "want to become a midwife" but Corrie fans needn't worry as the new mum-of-three is looking forward to returning to the ITV soap next year. Jennie, who has been watching classic Corrie episodes during night feeds with Doris, was a teenager when she made her soap debut at Fizz back in 2001.

"I was 17 when I started on Corrie and when I go back after maternity leave, I’ll be 40. I’ve been in it longer than I haven’t. But I never take it for granted," she admitted. The actress has already welcomed her new addition to her Coronation Street family, where she had "lots of cuddles".

Jennie and husband Chris previously explained how they didn't want to know the gender of their third child ahead of welcoming them into the world. Speaking on Loose Women in January, Jennie revealed she didn't know what she was expecting but shared how she was due to give birth over Easter - saying: "They will be my little Easter chick".

After feeling nauseous during their family camping holiday, Jennie took a pregnancy test and found out her brood was about to get a little bit bigger as learned she was five weeks pregnant. "I can probably guarantee that whatever the name we choose, it will have been a character in Corrie – I don't know how to avoid it," the star explained when discussing her then-unborn baby.

When she announced she was pregnant, the soap star admitted she and Chris might not stop at three children. Jennie said: "That programme, 22 Kids And Counting – I totally get it! I love being pregnant, I love babies and I love being a mum to the kids and each stage. It feels right and being a mum is my favourite job in the world." However since giving birth to Doris, Jennie has has confessed she is "getting too old" and "running out of space" in their home with three kids.
