Lucozade fans baffled at 'obscene' new bottle design - and compare it to cartoon

Customers have been left confused after Lucozade changed its distinctive packaging. Some said the new look is "obscene" while others went as far as to compare it to Winnie the Pooh. The beverage has had a few changes over the years, as it was originally sold in pharmacies before it was made readily available as a sports drink in shops across the UK.

As the brand's popularity has risen, the energy drink has developed a loyal following - but shoppers have been left divided after a recent change to its design. Lucozade has had a revamp, with the wrapper covering the bottle now only going halfway down. Unfortunately, not everyone is a fan of the trendy new look. "Have we all noticed the new packaging for the Lucozade bottles? Does it not look as if they are now only half-dressed? It's obscene," one person said. "Why is my Lucozade bottle dressed like Winnie the Pooh?" another commented. A third added: "How long has Lucozade been in crop tops?"

Thankfully, the brand has put people's minds at ease after they revealed the new design won't be around forever. As well as adjusting the packaging, they have also made changes to how the drink tastes after analysing data from 6,500 shoppers. Responding to someone on social media, a spokesperson said: "We enhanced the flavour profile of Lucozade to give the drinks a bolder taste. Oh, and the packaging? It won't be here forever, it's an interim step while we work on something new. Just think of it as our ode to Winnie The Pooh."

The brand has now made its original flavour "bolder" with a more citrus touch. The company believes that the new design they're currently working on and planning on rolling out in the future will help attract more buyers. Zoe Trimble, head of Lucozade Energy, Suntory Beverage & Food GB&I, said: "We are excited to be launching this new taste and look for Lucozade Energy Original and Orange and are confident the bold new flavours and design will help us reach even more shoppers."

The new-look design will feature on Lucozade Energy Orange and Lucozade Energy Original 380ml, 500ml, and 900ml bottles, in both individual and multipacks. The remaining Lucozade Energy flavours will be given the same redesign in the future.
