A village just a one-hour drive from Birmingham has been dubbed a 'hidden gem' after being named one of the prettiest areas in the country.

Inkberrow in Worcestershire has been named one of the prettiest areas in the whole of the UK. And it is not surprising why. The location is home to chocolate box houses and stunning rural scenery.

It has taken the top spot of the prettiest villages following research by StressFreeCarRental.com. What makes the seven villages they looked at even more beautiful is the surrounding landscape that dominates the areas, reports Birmingham Live.

Whether it's rolling green hills or stunning coastal views, these villages up and down the UK bring a level of peace and tranquillity to all who visit. Other spots on the list include Solva in Pembrokeshire which is a perfect coastal village with sweeping views of the Welsh landscapes, and Crovie in Aberdeenshire, Scotland features beautifully sweet cottages along the sea edge.

Inkberrow, Worcestershire

This village in the heart of the countryside is lined with chocolate box houses and miles of beautiful walks through the picturesque surroundings. Inkberrow and its surrounding villages are packed full of charm and serenity in rural Worcestershire.

It is believed to be the inspiration for Ambridge, the setting of BBC Radio 4's long-running series, The Archers. It's located on the A422 between Worcester and Stratford upon Avon and is less than an hour's drive from Birmingham.

East Budleigh, Devon

Just a few miles from the sea, this quaint village in Devon is an unspoilt beauty. With a rich history and thatched cottages nestled in the rolling hills of the countryside, East Budleigh certainly offers a sense of tranquillity to visitors.

Grassington, North Yorkshire
