Many viewers watching at home expressed their shock at Mark's new look as the 50-year-old singer sported a shoulder length hairdo and striking new facial hair.

After mixed reviews online, Mark joked that his own children have even expressed their upset with his changed appearance. During an appearance on BBC Breakfast to to promote his solo single 'You Only Want Me', and his new album Land of Dreams, the topic of conversation quickly turned to Mark's stylish look, with fans watching at home taking to social media to claim they didn’t even recognise him.

Sally Nugent asked about his new facial hair while he sat on the famous red sofa. “Actually, you look different. The moustache, how long has that been there?” she quizzed.

Mark replied: “It’s been there for about four years probably. It started off as a beard and then my beard got a bit patchy on this side.

“Then we were going on tour, and beards can get a bit sweaty on tour. So then it became a moustache and it sort of stuck.”

Mark then admitted that not everyone is a fan of his new look: “My children keep threatening to cut it off. They’re like, 'Can we just…?' And I [say], 'No! It has to stay.' I said, 'I've done my artwork - I can’t change the look!’ I’ve done the video, I can’t change my look now.”

Take That have gone to five members to just three in the last few years with Jason Orange choosing to follow Robbie Williams out the door. It's understood that Jason quit after wanting to escape the showbiz spotlight while his pals have continued to release albums and tour.

Howard has previously shared his regrets surrounding Robbie's departure in 1995 and says he thinks he could have saved him. The star that men did not talk about their feelings back then and they were unaware how Robbie was truly feeling.

"To have someone close to you that you can speak to about your feelings, that’s one of the things we never ever did in the 90s, hence why Robbie left. We never discussed what he was feeling before he left that room. We look back at that moment and think we wished we could have talked more,” he said. “I wonder if it could have saved him leaving. It was a massive lease of life for me to get everyone back together again.”

While Robbie previously explained that he felt he had to walk as he was experiencing a nervous breakdown. “I think that I was in the middle of a nervous breakdown, my first of many. All the information going into the computer had made the computer overload.

"Things weren't great at home, things weren't great with my job, and then I was new to this phenomena of extreme fame. [I was] doing my GCSEs, which I failed at, to then all of a sudden being in Japan and having 3,000 fans outside and then that being the case everywhere that we go.

“It was unsafe, and it was surreal and that, mixed with what I was ingesting to cope with my life and the way that my body and mind reacts to it, didn't mix well. So it felt like I was in some sort of burning building and I needed to get out.

“That's how it felt at the time. And then I was like, 'okay, I'll do this tour and then I'll leave.’ And they actually went, ‘Actually, if you're going to leave, can you go now?’" he recalled.
