Oleksandr Usyk vs Daniel Dubois LIVE result from heavyweight world title fight

Oleksandr Usyk ended Daniel Dubois’ world heavyweight title dream with a ninth-round knockout in Wroclaw.

Usyk kept hold of his WBA, IBF and WBO belts with a 14th knockout win in 21 fights, much to the delight of the large contingent of his fellow Ukrainians who have resided in Poland since Russian’s invasion of their country last year.

Dubois caught Usyk with a low blow in the fifth that put the Ukrainian down but was deemed accidental. While some observers might have considered the punch to be on the belt line, Usyk was given time to recover. But Dubois sensed this was his moment and the pair traded heavy punches.

The bad feeling between the pair was evident as the bell sounded and Dubois continued to focus on the Ukrainian’s body in the sixth. Usyk upped the pace in the seventh, forcing Dubois to take a backward step and leaving the Londoner marked for the first time.

Dubois recovered in the eighth but in the final 10 seconds he was dropped to the canvas. He managed to get back to his feet as the bell sounded but there was to be no respite for Dubois. Usyk charged in again and put down Dubois again for the referee Luis Pabon to wave the fight off.

That's all, folks

Dubois speaks out

Dubois on the low blow: "I didn't think that was a low bow, i think it landed and I've been cheated out of victory. I won tonight but I will have to come back."

Dubois' promoter Frank Warren added: ""He's been cheated, it hit him on the waistband. That's all he worked on in camp, to the body, we saw it as a weakness and the referee got it badly wrong. I like Usyk but that was a hometown decision. he won the fight because he was not fit to go on and they gave him a couple of minutes to recover from a legitimate shot."

Controversy...

The row over the 'low blow' is going to rage and rage...

Asked about the incident, Usyk said: "Boxing is a tough sport but I'm great. I love boxing and I respect my opponent but it's boxing, its a king's sport."

DUBOIS DOWN AGAIN! AND HE CAN'T BEAT THE COUNT!

Usyk vs Dubois - Round 8

Usyk is certainly not moving as smoothly as he was in the opening rounds and it's now time for Dubois to capitalise, which I accept is easier said than done. He does land a decent right hand in the final minute and follows it up with a jab. DUBOIS IS DOWN! He was struggling and essentially took a knee. That is huge. The bell goes as soon as the fight restarts.

Usyk looking less comfortable now as Dubois continues to target the champion's body. Usyk does respond with a left hand though and then another one rocks Dubois' head back. The Brit responds with a left hook but just misses.

Usyk continues to box well but Dubois comes on strongly as the round reaches a crescendo. And he lands perhaps his best punch of the fight (apart from the illegal legal one) at the very end to give him some hope.

Usyk vs Dubois - Round 5

Dubois lands a shot low and Usyk falls to the canvas and needs time to recover. Dubois is given a talking to and Usyk looks pretty winded. Dubois has Usyk roughed up momentarily but he's struggling to maintain his attacks. Usyk lands a jab flush. Then a left hand lands in a similar manner. Dubois begins to increase his aggression and when he does, Usyk takes stock, but it's another round for the Ukrainian.

Usyk vs Dubois - Round 2

Dubois comes out swinging at the start of the second round but he looks a bit wild. Usyk catches Dubois with a left hand which left the Brit in no-man's land for a brief moment. Dubois' response finds only Usyk's gloves and he is caught again with the champ's response. Dubois almost lands clean with his right in the last 30 seconds but only glances his rival.

Usyk vs Dubois - Round 1

Usyk lands a solid jab early on but otherwise the opening minute is quiet. There's not as big a size difference as you might think as Usyk bounces on his feet and looks to make his move. His right hand connects again as the rain pours down. Dubois lands a left but it doesn't have much purchase on it. Usyk's jab lands again and then switches to the body. A comfortable opener for the champ.

RESULT: Aadam Hamed bt Vojtech Hrdy via TKO

Hamed said: "That was my first fight ever, not just my pro debut and it was a blessing to be here in front of everyone," Hamed said. "What a night; I felt like i put on a performance and it's going to get bigger and better from here. I like to hurt people, I'm not in there to tip and tap, I want to get people out of there.

"They are always going to say what they want, I just need to do my best to take no notice and do me. This is just a stepping stone to where i want to get to. I'm very passionate about this game, I don't look at it as a hobby. I'm not here to take part, I'm here to take over. I want to be as active as possible and hopefully get one or two more fights in this year."

Denys Berinchyk vs Anthony Yigit - Round 8

Yigit just can't get a grip on the round for long enough as Berinchyk continues to come on strongly and finish well, something which could catch the judges' eye. Yigit's tactics of staying on the outside are perhaps not helping him.

Denys Berinchyk vs Anthony Yigit - Round 7

Yigit appears to have been told to get on the front foot more and he at least begins the round strongly. But Berinchyk takes over as the round progresses and will be confident of seeing it out from here.
