Chris Evans flips TukTuk injuring 2 people after 'performing donuts at festival'
Car crazy Chris Evans flipped over a TukTuk earlier today, injuring two female passengers at his CarFest festival.
Onlookers stared in horror as the former Top Gear presenter overturned the little automated rickshaw vehicle as he performed “donuts” according to witnesses at the scene. Two passengers who were guests of the multi-millionaire DJ were hurt and could be seen being helped from the overturned vehicle.
Both sustained minor injuries in the accident yesterday morning at the event at Laverstoke Park Farm, near Basingstoke in Hampshire. Evans, wearing a bright orange jumper, was not hurt in the accident and was seen helping his passengers out of the vehicle. An emergency ambulance, thought to be based at the event for the day, could be seen racing to the scene on video captured by a festival goer.
Festival organisers refused to answer questions about the incident but issued a statement last night A statement from CarFest released tonight confirmed: “This morning at CarFest the Tuk Tuk which Chris Evans was driving overturned on the track as Chris changed direction. The two passengers on board had minor injuries and the CarFest on-site medical team attended to support. Richard Hammond was not in the vehicle at any time.”
The former Top Gear presenter has a history of driving mishaps. He crashed a Jaguar on loan to the show in his first time around the track. He quit the show after just one series and was unpopular with viewers who preferred former frontman Jeremy Clarkson.
Accident prone Richard Hammond was also at CarFest today but was not involved in this latest incident. Hammond nearly lost his life in a crash filming for Top Gear on 20 September 2006 at York’s Elvington airfield. The 52-year-old, from Solihull, was driving a Vampire jet car - capable of travelling at speeds of up to 370 mph - when one of the tyres blew, causing it to spin out of control and crash at 320 mph.
And on 10th of June, 2017, while filming for an episode of the second series of the Amazon Prime motoring show The Grand Tour, he was involved in an accident while participating in a hill-climb event in Switzerland. CarFest is a charity motoring festival run by Chris Evans and held annually in Hampshire and Cheshire.
