EastEnders fans have pointed out a blunder in Cindy Beale's storyline ahead of her dramatic return to Walford.

In Thursday's episode of the BBC soap, we saw Cindy - played by Michelle Collins - arrive on the Eurostar to London, ahead of her plan to bring her son Peter Beale back from Albert Square. Cindy will make her return to the Square on Monday night, and it will no doubt be chaos as not only do her friends realise she's still alive but her ex George Knight is set to learn more about her past.

George had met Cindy when she was in witness protection. Her family were told she had died in childbirth whilst in prison, but actually she is very much alive and had been living under the identity Rose Knight.

Some fans have now noticed a blunder with the Rose Knight / Cindy Beale storyline and took to Reddit to voice their concerns over the apparent 'error', as viewers rushed to give their views on that part of the storyline.

One fan wrote on Reddit: "'Rose' aka Cindy, kept the same number for YEARS. Surely the Witness Relocation Programme would have had an issue with that. And having her actual number, why did George never track her down through it? There are website galore and catfish-inspired techniques that could have pinpointed her in an INSTANT."

"I think George knows he could find her if he really really wanted to. It's because he told her never to come back during their last argument he felt she was still punishing him. He just wanted her to answer the phone and he knew she was alive because he was still able to send her voicemails," another fan mused in response.

A third wrote: "Maybe George DOES know where she is.......?" as a fourth replied: "This is what I was thinking." A fifth shared: "I think what it is, when she first moved to Spain she got a number, and when she had to flee, the person handling her witness protection programmed probs kept her personal items. And then now she’s free, her items have been returned."

Michelle recently revealed Cindy will be back to her old self when she makes her return. "I’d say she’s very emotional because of the things she’s been through and I can’t say too much but there’s a lot of emotional stuff going on there. Definitely expect bits of the old Cindy to come back. I also think that people would be disappointed if there wasn’t elements of her old character in there.

"She was a character where women hated her, but they also wanted to be her because of the way she behaved. She was unapologetic in a time where women on TV weren’t portrayed that way so I think that’s why she literally got away with murder! People loved that side of her because she was the bad girl," she said.
