Love Island's Scott's disastrous time on US show as he's dumped just days in

Love Island USA star Scott Van Der Sluis has been sensationally dumped from the reality TV show's American villa just days after entering the villa.

The former goalkeeper for Shelbourne F.C had previously appeared on the UK version of the show earlier this summer but failed to find love while on the Spanish island of Mallorca. However, just weeks after filming wrapped, Scott, 22, was clearly determined to pursue love and so joined the USA version of the show, which was filmed in Fiji.

But once again, things took a turn for the worse as he only lasted one week despite hooking up with fellow contestant Johnnie Olivia. The pair were dumped from the villa after viewers were asked to vote for their favourite couple - cutting Scott and Johnnie's time in the villa together short.

Speaking of their shock exit, Johnnie explained: "Leaving together feels relieving, because I came in here to find a person – my person, and I feel like I made such a great connection. We’ll see where it goes.”

Clealry sharing the same sentiment, Scott added: “My time in the villa was short, sweet, but worthwhile. I’m excited to see how the connection with this one goes. I like being around her.” Despite some fans being excited to see Scott's return, others branded him a "game player" as they sparked speculation of him knowing that he was set to join the US version while filming for the UK one.

While on the UK version of the reality TV show, Scott had grown close to Catherine Agbaje and they appeared to reunite after leaving the villa. At the time, fans were hoping to see love blossom between the pair but that was short lived when the former goal keeper joined the US version as a bombshell last week.

In a bid to dispel rumours, a spokesperson for Scott insisted that he was asked to join Love Island US just days after leaving the villa in Mallorca. During a Q&A on Scott’s Instagram, his rep wrote: “There’s been a lot of rumours circulating, but Scott got asked a few days after leaving the UK villa and had to make a decision within 24 hours so by the time of the re-union it was signed, sealed and all other islanders were aware and supportive of his decision.”

During the reunion show of the UK version, Scott had hinted at rekindling a romance with Catherine. He said: "Never say never. Obviously, we care for each other and we're really good friends." But historically, the pair were clearly not meant to be, as things turned sour after Catherine returned from Casa Amor with another man – leaving Scott in an incredibly vulnerable position.

Catherine was was slammed by viewers on social media for recoupling with Elom Ahlijah-Wilson, and the pair were dumped from the villa shortly afterwards by public vote. But at the UK show's reunion episode, the pair gave fans hope as they were looking cosy. And when show co-host Sam Thompson asked where they stood with one another, Catherine replied: "We talk, like we’re on good terms”. And the Welsh footballer added: "We’re in a good place with it. We were friends before Catherine left the villa."
