Steven Spielberg has enjoyed a decades-long career in the film industry, including him having worked on Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and Schindler's List (1993).

The acclaimed filmmaker, now 76, also directed the original Indiana Jones trilogy and a subsequent sequel, as well as the first two instalments in the beloved Jurassic Park film series. Steven is also known as a screenwriter and producer.

He's set to be honoured with the Eva Monley Award from the Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) this weekend. Ahead of the awards ceremony in the US, his films were described as "timeless" and it has been stated that his influence on the industry has been "immeasurable".

The accolade is given to recipients for "extraordinary contribution [to] filmmaking through [a] commitment to the use of real locations". It's named after the late location scout Eva Monley, who had once worked with Steven.

Steven will likely be supported by his family, which includes his wife Kate Capshaw, 69, as he's once again honoured for his contributions to the film industry. He's previously won numerous awards including several Academy Awards.

Amid his latest accolade, we've taken a look at Steven's personal life, to give you an insight into his family and his life away from film sets. This includes his partnership with actor Kate, whom he's been married to for three decades.

First marriage

Steven is said to have met his first wife Amy Irving, now 69, when she auditioned for a role in the film Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977). Amy didn't end up getting the role in the project, which was written and directed by Steven.

The two are said to have begun a relationship though, with them having reportedly initially dated from around 1976 until 1980. They are said to have later reunited, with the pair married from 1985 until their divorce in 1989. It's claimed that it's one of the most expensive celebrity divorces.

Prior to their divorce, actor Amy - whose credits include Yentl (1983) - and Steven welcomed son Max Spielberg, now 38, in 1985. Max is the eldest of his children and is believed to be a graphic designer, as well as a producer.

Second marriage

Steven is understood to have met Kate through Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984). He directed the film, whilst Kate played Willie Scott, who was the love interest of Dr. Henry 'Indiana' Jones Jr. (played by Harrison Ford).

It has been reported that Steven and Kate began living together in 1989, following his separation from Amy. Kate is said to have converted to Judaism ahead of marrying the director, with them having tied the knot back in 1991.

The couple have five children together. Their eldest two children are Sasha Spielberg, 33, and Sawyer Spielberg, 31. The couple's third child Destry Spielberg, now 26, was born in 1996, the same year they adopted Mikaela George, now 27. Steven has also adopted Theo Spielberg, now 35, whom Kate had adopted into her family prior to their marriage.

The blended family also includes Kate's daughter Jessica Capshaw, 47, from her first marriage to Robert Capshaw. Jessica, like her mother, is an actor - with her best known for having played Arizona Robbins on Grey's Anatomy.

Kate - who seemingly retired from acting years ago, having more recently become a painter - has spoken about her partnership with Steven. She told the Chicago Tribune in 1995 they were "partners" and their life was a "production".

The former actor - whose credits include Black Rain (1989) and Just Cause (1995) - said: "If I want to do something that affects that production, I want to have his support." She teased that they both "push [their] own envelopes".

She shared in the interview: "He operates his jet - a camera and a story. My jet is the family. I might not be comfortable pushing the limits in film the way he does, and he might not be as comfortable pushing the limits of our family."

Steven has himself spoken about their marriage, such as teasing that Kate has influenced his career. He spoke to Total Film in 2004 about having planned to direct comedy film Meet the Parents (2000) until she shared her thoughts.

He said: "My wife says I'm not funny enough! I was preparing to direct [that film] when she read the script." Steven further told the outlet: "She said, 'You're not directing this movie - give it to a director who does comedy well'."

He didn't end up directing the project and said at the time of the interview that Kate doesn't mind "comic moments" in his films. The filmmaker however further commented: "But I'm not allowed to do an outright comedy!"
