Arsenal might not be totally finished on the transfer front following their £200m summer outlay if Mikel Arteta ’s hint is anything to go by.

The Gunners have already spent a huge amount this summer following the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea, the club record signing of Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber’s recruitment from Ajax. David Raya has also been signed from Brentford, with that move expected to be made permanent next summer.

There’s just a week to go of the current window, with a number of deals remaining on the agenda. Kieran Tierney and Folarin Balogun are closing in on switches to Real Sociedad and Monaco respectively.

Arsenal are also continuing to search for more defensive support following the long-term injury suffered by Timber. Gunners boss Arteta was asked about any more deals in his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s showdown with Fulham and hinted that moves could be sealed sooner rather than later.

The Spaniard said: “There are some movements happening. The last week is going to be busy. Nothing that we can announce at the moment.”

Arteta was then asked how important it was to have a settled squad and once again refused to rule out more business. “Really important. Especially for the players,” he replied.

“Everybody needs to have clarity in their roles, where they are playing, and for their families as well. We need to have clarity of the numbers as well and who can do what.

“While the window is open, which is still a bit strange to be competing in competitions while the window is open, we have to deal with that. It’s happened for a long time and we’re used to it.”

It appears unlikely that the Gunners will manage to get any deals over the line before their next outing against Fulham. Away from Tierney and Balogun’s exits, a number of other players could soon be on the move.

Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga has been linked with Premier League rivals Burnley and Brighton. Former record signing Nicolas Pepe could also be on the move, with Turkish side Besiktas reportedly interested in swooping for his services.

Nuno Tavares, Thomas Partey and Cedric Soares have also all been linked with exits, with Brazilian defender Gabriel Magalhaes being targeted by Saudi clubs before the end of their respective window.

Away from transfers, Arsenal will be aiming to secure three consecutive Premier League wins this weekend. Arteta’s side have won each of their opening two matches of the campaign against Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace.
