Barbie fans will be treated to a little extra something when it hits Imax theatres next month. The box office hit's new release will feature exclusive new post-credits footage.

Greta Gerwig, who directed the Mattel movie, specially selected the never-seen-before footage for viewers to watch. Warner Bros set a one-week run for the movie, starting from September 22, all around North America and a few specially selected international territories.

"We made Barbie for the big screen, so it’s a thrill to be able to bring it to Imax, the biggest screen of all," Greta said. "As a special thanks to Barbie fans, we’re excited to share a little bit more of our cast and crew’s incredible work by adding special new footage we hope audiences will enjoy."

Warner Bros. exec Jeff Goldstein also said: "If there was one thing missing in this winning Barbie strategy, it was being able to put Greta’s singular vision on premium Imax screens over the uber-competitive summer corridor. That Barbie continues to draw packed audiences around the world heading into its sixth weekend of release speaks to the quality of the film and the excitement audiences have for the story.

"We are so pleased to give them a chance to see Barbie, whether for the first or fifth time, in such an experiential format as Imax." The incredible movie, fronted by Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, made over £1billion ($1.3bn) at the box office ever since it came out a month ago.

It was recently said Margot is set to earn an eye-watering amount of money in both her salary and box office bonuses for starring in Barbie The Movie. And according to Variety, the staggering sum of money that Margot will be banking has been revealed. The Aussie beauty, who starred in and produced the film, is said to be about to earn $50 million in salary and box office bonuses, Variety reports. The outlet claims to have been told the news by three sources who know of Margot's deal.

Speaking to British Vogue about Barbie, Margot previously said: "The role comes with a lot of baggage and a lot of nostalgic connections. But that comes with a lot of exciting ways to attack it. People generally hear 'Barbie' and think, 'I know what that movie is going to be', and then they hear that Greta Gerwig is writing and directing it, and they’re like, 'Oh, well, maybe I don't...'."

In the movie, Barbie suffers an existential crisis that leads her to question the world around her. She goes on a journey of self-discovery into the 'real world'. Other A-list celebrities in Barbie include Issa Rae, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera and Sex Education star Emma Mackey, who played Maeve in the hit Netflix show.
