An influencer’s $400,000 Ferrari F8’s tires rapidly burst into flames after he drove it across a bone-dry and scorching cornfield in Texas.

YouTuber WhistlinDiesel, whose real name is Cody Detwiler’ Youtube video “The fastest way to lose half a million dollars. My Ferrari is gone,” has now amassed 6.7 million views, reaching beyond his existing 6 million subscribers.

On a 46°C Texan summer day 25-year-old Cody challenged him and his team to see how well the supercar drove.

Reported to have a net worth of $4.8 million, uploaded the video to Youtube last Saturday, which follows the team’s rental van attempting to keep up with the sports car.

As the vehicle screeched around the cornfield visible levels of debris built up in the car’s tires and grill.

Cody shouted: “ Fire, fire, fire."

Smoke billowed from Ferrari’s rear, seeping from the engine, and Cody leaped out of the car’s doors.

He added: "Well, uh, there goes half a million dollars.”

Cody’s team attempted to extinguish the flames with water but to no avail.

Chaos ensued as the lively flames spread to the neighbouring van and engulfed a second vehicle in the fire.

The men rushed to unload their gear from the van and watched on as they checked the entire field didn’t catch alight.

The influencer said: “To all the people in the comments saying we’re idiots, or offering their super smart advice as to what we should’ve done,”

“Sure, I make money destroying things, but I don’t lie, not everything is a conspiracy.”

One of Cody, or “WhistlinDiesel”’s most popular videos is titled “I bought a $400,00 Ferrari just to destroy it”, with 12 million views.

He added: “I guess, uh, don't drive in a cornfield.”

“I always wanted to have a little bit of fun with that car.

"Hard loss, but I guess I can't say it wasn't going to happen anyways, it's okay guys, we'll recover from this...someday."

He added: “This was a complete accident and I originally intended on filming so many more things with the car, but this was a great lesson to do even more crazy things before your car catches on fire.

The post had loads of people questioning whether it was real but Cody was quick to come to his own defence.

He said: “Why would I also burn up a RENTAL van with all of our stuff inside?”

“No, this wasn’t staged, anyone who can read human body language can tell this was real.”
