Halle Berry to pay ex-husband $8k in child support after divorce is finalised

Halle Berry and ex-husband Olivier Martinez finally finalise divorce

After eight years of battling in the courts, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have reportedly officially finalised their divorce.

The two married in 2013 and filed for divorce two years later. Reportedly the divorce took so long to proceed due to unresolved custody issues. But now that it's all said and done, the Catwoman actress must pay her ex $8,000 (£6,300) a month in child support for their nine-year-old son, Maceo. She was also ordered to pay 4.3 percent of any income she makes above $2 million (£1.57 million) as "additional child support," PageSix reported.

Halle is also responsible for Maceo's "private school tuition, school uniforms, and school supplies" along with his health insurance, uncovered medical expenses, and 100 percent of the nine-year-old's extracurricular activities. The actress also reportedly "voluntarily" agreed to contribute $55,000 (£43,230) towards her ex-husband's legal fees. While this sounds like a lot, it's reported that Halle is worth over $90million (£70.8 million).

For the custody agreement, it seems the two have worked out a schedule that gives half of the week, Monday to Wednesday, to one parent and the other half of the week, Wednesday to Friday to the other, with alternating weekends. Time is also set aside to "make up time" if work commitments create an inconvenience.

This is Halle's third marriage and Olivier's first. Halle was previously married to baseball player David Justice in 1993. The two divorced in 1997. Her second husband was singer-songwriter Eric Benet, who Halle married in 2001 and later divorced four years later. She was also in a long-term relationship with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, who she started dating in 2005. Together she and Gabriel have a 15-year-old daughter.

The custody battle over her daughter was also highly publicised, as Halle wanted to move with her daughter from Los Angeles to France where she planned to live with her new lover at the time, Olivier. A judge denied Halle's request to move their daughter to the European country. In 2014, a court ordered Halle to pay Gabriel $16,000 (£12,600) a month for child support and $300,000 (£236,000) in his attorney fees. Currently, Halle has been dating musician Van Hunt since 2020.

Olivier's most high profile relationship besides the one with Halle was when he dated Australian singer Kylie Minogue. The two met at the 2003 Grammy Awards and dated until February 2007. Halle and Olivier met in 2010 on the set of the action film Dark Tide and got engaged two years later before marrying in 2013.
