The First Descendant is an upcoming third-person co-op shooter from Nexon Games and finally had a free open beta confirmed. Here's how to register.

Gamescom Opening Night Live was packed with updates for upcoming games, with The First Descendant being one of them. The looter shooter got a brand new trailer, as well as an open beta announcement. The game has had a beta in the past but it was limited to Steam users on PC. We were supposed to get one this month, but that appears to have been scrapped in favour of the revised dates revealed at ONL.

The First Descendent beta date has been confirmed for Tuesday, 19 September running until Monday, 25 September. It kicks off at 8am BST / 3am EDT / 12am PDT on the Tuesday, and finishes at the same time on the following Monday, giving you a whole week to explore the game.

The First Descendent beta is free-to-play and will be coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4, as well as PC. And Nexon Games has confirmed that the The First Descendent beta will be crossplay, so you can round up your squad of four players across whichever platforms they're playing on. And as per the FAQ page, because The First Descendent supports crossplay, you can access your game info across all of the listed platforms – as long as you link your Nexon ID to your platform account of choice.
