Ralf Little has teased some "challenging" storylines ahead on the new series of Death In Paradise.

The actor is back for his role as DI Neville Parker on the BBC hit drama series. The team have been busy filming in Guadeloupe, home of the fictional Saint Marie - and have just returned to set following a two week break.

Ralf hopped onto an Instagram live to share with fans what they can expect from the new series, as he teased there would be changes ahead. Whilst the show is centred around various cases of murder and how the Saint Marie police force go about solving them, Neville and co will go through some tough and emotional storylines of their own in the upcoming series.

Speaking about what fans can expect from the new series, he said: "More of the same, the stuff that we know and love. Puzzles and mysteries and Neville being a little bit hapless in most areas of his life but when it comes to solving murders, absolutely bang on it.

"We're going to try and pick up with the tone at the end of series 12. We really tried to push the boat out with series 12 in terms of, not just solving a mystery every week and moving on but over the course of a series, really trying to find challenges for the main characters, trying to find things for them to overcome emotionally."

He added in an Instagram live: "Neville was faced with his biggest ever challenge, he was sent to prison and he was framed. So we took a bit of a leap with that last year and it worked out really well and people seemed to really enjoy it and we thought we made a really good show. So, there's going to be more of that this year, more challenges for the characters."

Meanwhile, Josephine Jobert recentlly responded to claims Florence Cassell could be the next Detective Inspector.

As filming began for the new series, the show's account posted a clip from behind the scenes and Josephine was quick to reply to the post with four flame emojis, as one viewer wrote in response: "Is this a sign that you’ll be back?" and another added: "She needs to return as the next Detective Inspector. It’s time we see a female inspector and there is no one better than Florence."

Josephine responded to the comment, teasing the possibility as she wrote: "Ahah there’s an article like that every time a new series is being filmed. And I would be curious to know why fans think Florence would return."
