BBC's The One Show is finally making a comeback next week after an extended summer break.
The popular evening entertainment show, hosted by Alex Jones, Jermaine Jenas and Ronan Keating, has been missing from schedules since early August, with viewers bereft after its usual 7pm slot was filled with episodes of Rip Off Britain, which sees Angela Rippon, Julia Somerville and Gloria Hunniford investigate money issues and helps people hit by scams at home and abroad.
Fans will be delighted to discover The One Show is back after a three-week break on BBC One on Tuesday 29 August, as a post-Bank Holiday Monday treat. The broadcaster’s schedules have undergone a transformation over the last few weeks, with EastEnders being replaced with live coverage of the World Athletics Championships which is currently taking place in Budapest.

There will be no episode on Wednesday, but on Thursday, the day of Cindy Beale’s long-awaited return to Albert Square, there is an hour-long episode.
Alex signed off from The One Show on 4 August, as she announced it would be taking an extended break. “Thank you very much to all of our guests tonight, we are on a three-week break now, aren't we, on holiday, so we'll see you back here on Tuesday, August 29,” she explained as she hosted the show alongside Roman Kemp.

Alex announced the break to viewers at the beginning of August while co-hosting with Roman Kemp (BBC)“But in the meantime, look out for Roman here, on a brand new quiz show called The Finish Line, coming soon to BBC. Have a lovely summer, bye,” Alex added, referencing the DJ and TV star’s game show debut alongside BBC icon Sarah Greene. The Finish Line, which started on Monday, sees five contestants battle against each other for the chance to win a cash prize. Roman, who is the son of Spandau Ballet legend Martin Kemp, said co-hosting the show was “a massive moment in my career.”
Alex’s announcement came just after Gethin Jones revealed the BBC breakfast show Morning Live would also be taking a brief hiatus from schedules over the summer, telling viewers it was “bye for now” as they headed off air. “That is for today and we are taking a break for a few weeks but we will be back on Monday the 28th of August. Thank you so much for watching, have a lovely summer, we will see you soon, bye for now,” he stated.
