An Ohio grandad has been left with a broken neck, a smashed eye socket and went into cardiac arrest after diving badly into a swimming pool, according to a GoFundMe set up to cover medical bills for the family man.

Danny Osborne is fighting for his life in hospital with doctors worried "he may have went too long without oxygen to his brain," his family said on the fundraising page.

The accident on Saturday August 19 has left his wife of 27 years - Mandy - distraught at his hospital bed. She is Yet to leave his side." The latest update on Sunday saying: "the next 24-48 hours are going to be crucial for Danny and his recovery."

A fundraiser has been set up to support the family and help pay for Danny's "unfathomable" medical bills as he does not have health insurance, despite owning his own business.

It reads: "He dove into a swimming pool and fractured his neck, C1-C2. When this happened, Danny went into cardiac arrest. After multiple rounds of CPR, they were able to get his pulse back but the doctors are worried he may have went too long without oxygen to his brain.

"He had an MRI which showed bruising on his brain and a broken eye socket. Currently, he is in the Neuro ICU at Riverside Hospital. The next 24-48 hours are going to be crucial for Danny and his recovery."

The family are facing crippling medical bills as Danny does not have health insurance. According to the fundraiser: "Unfortunately, Danny did not have health insurance mainly because he owns his own business. We all know that his medical bills will be unfathomable. Mandy has yet to leave his side since the accident happened. With Danny being out of work and Mandy being by his side during this crucial part of his recovery, Mandy will also not be working."

So far, the fundraiser has raised just over $6,500 of its $10K goal, with one donor giving $10 and commenting on the page: "I’m here for you guys"

He and Mandy have been together for 27 years and have raised 3 amazing children. They also have three beautiful grand babies who they adore with every ounce of their hearts.
