Meghan Markle's old boss leaves fans devastated with update on next career step
Meghan Markle's old boss has left fans devastated with an update on her next career step.
The former actress starred in the hugely successful legal drama Suits, alongside Patrick J. Adams, Gabriel Macht, and Gina Torres, and the show ran from 2011 until 2019. The Duchess of Sussex played Gina Torres from 2011 to 2018, and she quit the role following her engagement to Prince Harry, devastating fans of the show as she subsequently retired from acting.
The show is currently undergoing a surge in viewers after eight of its nine seasons debuted on Netflix back in June, and broke streaming records as fans clamoured to rewatch the popular drama. As it gains popularity, viewers new and old have been demanding a Suits comeback, but series creator Aaron Korsh has dismissed the rumours, leaving fans heartbroken.
Taking part in a Q&A on X, formerly known as Twitter, he began by reiterating that Suits would never be coming back. “Let me say right off that there is no #Suits reboot or anything in the works,” he stated, as he revealed just how complicated it would be to bring the show back. “Some network or streamer would have to reach out and then we would have to collectively want to. Which is no small thing…” Aaron wrote.
Disappointed fans understood his decision, and agreed that leaving Suits alone was a good thing, as the series’ end was “wrapped up beautifully”. One fan replied: “I personally would prefer no reboot/anything. The show ended where it needed to & I am very satisfied with it. Too often finales/last seasons sink what was a great series, but Suits was wonderful and wrapped up everything beautifully. And very few reboots ever really work.”
Oprah Winfrey snubs Harry and Meghan as expert claims 'the tide has turned'Aaron also explained why the final season of Suits is 10 episodes, compared with the other seasons that had 16. “When Season 7 was ending I went into the network and then said we're going to give you a 16 episode season 8 and a 10 episode season 9 to wrap it up. I was good with it and I still am,” he shared.
Fans were desperate to know of any Suits spin-off plans, with some asking if Rick Hoffman’s character Louis Litt would have his own show. “It was just an idea pitched once. I didn't want Louis to leave #Suits. I didn't want Gina to leave either, but that was for her life, not in order to have a spin off,” he said, touching on Gina’s spin off show starring her character Jessica Pearson, which was cancelled after one season in 2019.
Earlier this year, executive producer Gene Klein also dismissed rumours of a Suits comeback, and said it would be impossible to get the cast - including Meghan - to reprise their roles. “I'm not aware of any serious conversations. It's just one of those things where, in this day and age, you wouldn't be surprised if somebody called you someday. But so far, nothing that I'm aware of,” he admitted.
