Kerry Katona pleads with 'natural' daughter to accept Love Island offers
Kerry Katona might be a big reality TV name but she is pleading with her second eldest child, Lilly-Sue to appear on ITV's dating show, Love Island.
The former Atomic Kitten songstress has been known to throw herself into any programme she has been offered, whether that be I'm A Celebrity or Dancing On Ice. But the mum-of-five often appears on shows with her children but now believes it's time for them to spread their own wings.
Kerry, 42, has explained that despite offers from telly bosses, Lilly-Sue, 22, has repeatedly turned down requests to fly out to the Love Island villa.
"My Lilly doesn't give a s***t," Kerry said before adding: "She got offered to do Love Island twice, I'm like 'Lilly please do it'". Speaking on Slingo's Getting Lippy Gossip Show, she continued: "Not just because I wanted to make loads of money and give half to me. Because Lilly's one of those who won’t shave her armpits, she'll sit there smoking a rollie, she's a very natural beautiful-looking girl.
"She won't shave her legs, teenage girls need to see that you know it's not you don't have to look perfect all the time give two flying f***s." But while Kerry wants Lilly to appear on the show, last month she shared her true thoughts on the programme which is hosted by Maya Jama.
Corrie's Sue Cleaver says I'm A Celebrity stint helped her to push boundariesSpeaking to the Mirror, Kerry told us: "She'll sit there with a rollie looking a mess, I went 'Just go on there and show kids our Heidi's age that it's OK to be normal'. Our Lilly said no because she's not one to stroll around in a bikini, it's just not her." The Warrington-born personality continued: "It's all fake, I've not watched it, I can't believe it's still going – I think it's shocking. It's fake and foggy, it gives young kids the wrong impression and wrong idea – it's like these filters on Instagram, the ones that make you look drop-dead gorgeous, they should be banned.
"They should be taken off, that's affecting my kids, that's affecting so many teenagers." Kerry later admitted that she never uses filters and only wears make-up for television appearances and photoshoots. Her admission comes just days after Kerry claimed her life is set to be made into a Netflix film.
Speaking on The Matt Haycox Show podcast, she said: "I've had a colourful life, Matt. I've been married three times, divorced twice, and widowed once. I've come from nothing, become a millionaire three times, and bankrupt twice, and now Netflix have got my life story, and wants to turn it into a film. I can't say too much more yet, but watch this space!"
