Liam Fox's wife Joanna Hudson has confessed that she 'can't cope' after the Emmerdale star was left in tears following his exit from the ITV soap last night.

The beloved actor first arrived on the fictional Yorkshire town back in 2011 as Dan Spencer, the estranged husband of Ali Spencer. Liam was initially only contracted for eight episodes, but after impressing Emmerdale bosses with his performance, the Manchester native was invited to extend his time on the hit show. He was later promoted to main cast and went on to receive nominations for Best Actor and Funniest Male at the 2013 and 2014 Inside Soap Awards, respectively.

Liam's 12-year-long run on Emmerdale came to a bittersweet end on Thursday evening, however, after his character was sentenced to prison for eight years for manslaughter.

Shortly after the episode aired, the 53-year-old's wife, Joanna, took to Instagram to celebrate the actor's legacy with a sweet video of his 'best bits' on the soap. She also admitted she "can't cope with the emotion" before adding she wishes she could "set up a prison visiting room in our kitchen so I can tell Dan it’ll all be alright at our kitchen table."

Daisy Campbell, who has played Dan's daughter in Emmerdale, has also paid tribute to the talented star. The 20-year-old paid honored her on-screen father in a heartfelt video message, thanking him for everything he taught her and wishing him luck in his future endeavours.

"Stay grounded, stick to what you know – you have literally taught me everything I know and I am always going to stick to the things you have taught me since being young – be grounded and treat everyone nicely," she said in the sweet address.

"I can’t believe I am saying goodbye, you are going to smash it, thank you for everything you have taught me. I can’t believe this is the final goodbye after working together for 12 years but I know I will definitely see you again. Lots of love, bye!"

The touching video, which was filmed on set of Emmerdale, was enough to bring the 53-year-old actor to tears.

"I don't usually get emotional," Liam admitted as he wiped his eyes, before crediting his beloved on-screen as the reason he stayed on the show for so long.

Elsewhere in the video, Daisy reflected fondly on her initial meeting with the Dinnerladies star. "I first filmed with Liam in 2011, nearly 2012, I was nearly 8," she recalled. "We had a scene in the park, you came in when you meant to. We had a scene at Brook Cottage where you took me and Sean on little days out to make up for lost time."
