Woman warned of 'red flag' after partner's 'odd' comment about weighing scale
A woman has branded her partner "selfish" as he refuses to let her use his weighing scales and wants to keep them hidden for himself.
The pair own a house a together and currently have another set of weighing scales which they want to chuck away as they don't work.
But the woman suggested the pair do without scales for now as she is just able to weigh herself at her Slimming World meetings and he only weighs himself occasionally.
However, he was not impressed and said he would get some scales out of his own pocket but added that she is not able to use them.
In a Mumsnet post, the woman, who remained anonymous, said she is confused and asked if she ran out of pens, would he not let her use one.
Dad furious after boy, 6, orders over $1,000 of takeaways while his mum is outShe explained: "I use these scales around once a week but also go to a local Slimming World so don't need the home scales.
"He has just told me our scales are rubbish and we need new ones. I said I agree they're not great so I'm happy to just not to have any in the house if he is.
"He said fine he'll buy some new ones with his money and keep them hidden just for his use as he's the only one paying for them."
She replied by saying it was quite an odd mindset he had and she would happily contribute to them if he wanted her to.
"Buying some to secretly keep for his own use is pretty weird and selfish," she said.
"He says it's fair enough if he's the only one paying. I think what's annoying me is that I never said I wouldn't get them out of joint money, I am more than happy to even though I'm not fussed about using them, he just jumped to that conclusion!
"I just find the mindset so odd - if he buys a pack of pens and I run out is he going to not lend me one?"
In response, many have sided with her and said the mindset of her partner is odd.
One person wrote: "That’s really odd behaviour. Is there any other warning flags?"
While another stated: "That is very strange. Is it a one off?"
'So fed up of tiresome pal flirting with my husband and always putting me down'A third penned: "Buy your own (better) scales and refuse to share."
