Frail Jane Fonda 'pushing body to the brink' as she ignores health concerns from friends

Hollywood actress Jane Fonda has been pushing herself 'too hard' as friends and family worry about the star following her cancer battle.

The star, 85, has even gone so far pushing herself that she she collapsed whilst joining SAG-AFTRA and WGA members on strike outside Netflix studios in Los Angeles last month.

Jane, who is still a working actress, has a long list of health woes including fighting cancer last year before being able to declare that her non-Hodgkin lymphoma was in remission in December, allowing her to stop chemotherapy.

This also wasn't her first brush with cancer as the actress has undergone various cancer treatments since 2010 including a full mastectomy in 2016 as well as five rounds of chemotherapy in 2022.

Despite her long list of ailments, an insider revealed that Jane is 'pushing herself' harder than ever before. An insider speaking to RadarOnline explained: "We tell Jane she needs to take it easy and rest after all her body has been through. But that isn't Jane's style. She knows she doesn't have much time left, so she's pushing harder than ever and working to make the most of her final moments."

The actress herself has acknowledged that her health is failing, as she commented: "I'm super-conscious I'm closer to death — and it doesn't really bother me that much."

Last December Jane shared the news with fans that her cancer was in remission, after a gruelling five rounds of chemotherapy. The Hollywood star received the happy news ahead of her 85th birthday next week and described it as "the best birthday present ever," adding that she feels "so blessed".

In a lengthy blog post on her official website, she wrote at the time: "Last week I was told by my oncologist that my cancer is in remission and I can discontinue chemo. I am feeling so blessed, so fortunate. I thank all of you who prayed and sent good thoughts my way. I am confident that it played a role in the good news."

Despite the good news, Jane has been vocal in the past about her own mortality as she told Entertainment Tonight: "I’m not going to be around for much longer. When you get to be my age, you better be aware of the amount of time that is behind you, as opposed to in front of you. I mean, that’s just realistic."

Adding that she’s 'not afraid of going', the star said: "I'm ready. I’ve had a great life. Not that I want to go, but I’m aware that it’s going to be sooner rather than later."
