Tragic Game of Thrones star's heartwarming final post before death aged 36
Game of Thrones star Darren Kent shared a heartwarming message just weeks before he died at the age of 36.
The Essex native, best known for playing Goatherd in the HBO fantasy drama, passed away on Friday surrounded by family and close friends after two years of illness. A statement released by Kent's agent has since honoured his legacy, noting that his "indomitable spirit and love of life inspired all he met". The sweet tribute also noted the English actor's talent for the performing arts and hailed him as "a warm and generous friend."
Kent uploaded his final social media post on July 24, taking to Twitter to share a photo of him with two other guests at a wedding in Santorini, Italy. In the idyllic snap, the TV, film and stage actor is being lifted up by a male friend against a backdrop of a gorgeous coast and moonlit swimming pool.
"To infinity and beyond!" Kent captioned the photo, which has now received over 3,400 views. The beloved actor, who regularly posted his career accomplishments on Twitter, reportedly suffered from osteoporosis, arthritis, and a skin condition. His death has prompted an outpouring of tributes online, many of which have been made by folks who had worked with Kent in the industry.
“Love and thoughts to the friends and family of our talented, caring soul of a friend, Darren Kent, who sadly passed away on Friday. Darren, an Essex writer, actor and director, directed our award winning short You Know Me," screenwriter Ben Trebilcook wrote. "A true character who was Always creating and forever upbeat and encouraging, Darren will be sorely missed."
