Strictly's John Whaite breaks silence with cryptic post after Johannes bombshell
Strictly Come Dancing star John Whaite has broken his social media silence to address his cheating confessions after he revealed he two-timed his fiancé with 'minor celebs' and fell head over heels in love with his Strictly professional dance partner, Johannes Radebe.
The former Great British Bake Off winner, 34, made history in 2021 when he and Johannes, 36, became the first same-sex couple to take to the dance floor. Earlier this week, John shocked Strictly fans when he revealed he developed feelings for the South African professional dancer while on the BBC One show, saying he and his partner of 15 years, Paul Atkins, 'spent time apart' after the series ended and after he realised he was in love with Johannes.
Opening up about his experience, he said: "I fell in love with him [Johannes]. I can't speak for him – because I'm not allowed to, legally – but it felt like there was love there. We had such similar stories growing up; the homophobia, the bullying, coming out, coming to terms with our sexuality, as any queer kid would." John then stated: "I still love Johannes. Of course I do."
John further shocked fans earlier this week when he revealed that he had cheated on his partner. Much earlier on in their relationship, and before they became engaged, John found himself 'testing the boundaries' and admitted that soap stars and minor celebs would make his eyes wander.
After his shocking confessions, John has now returned to social media with a cryptic post. The Strictly Come Dancing star, who is preparing to release his sixth book called Dancing on Eggshells, shared a screenshot of his latest memoir with the caption: 'Context is everything'.
Strictly's Molly Rainford and Tyler West fuel romance rumours while on tourThe former Bake Off winner is set to release his brand new memoir later this month, and it will detail his rise to fame and his career, as well as much darker subjects including his struggles with bulimia, alcoholism, and body dysmorphia.
It comes after John told The Times that he had split from his partner Paul for a while after 'falling in love' with Johannes on the BBC dancing show. However, Paul and John have managed to sort their relationship out and are now back together and engaged.
John had been with his now fiancé Paul for five years at the time when he made his debut on Strictly in 2021. The TV star said he 'tested the boundaries' of their relationship at the time. John confessed that he quickly developed feelings for his dance partner whilst on Strictly, and after the show came to an end, John said he spent 'some time apart' from Paul, who moved back in with his parents. At that time, John said he 'sat on the patio, drinking bottle after bottle of sauvignon blanc'.
After finding fame when he was just 23, John said he was thrown into a world of 'freebies, champagne hampers, meals out and holidays' and also said there were 'drunken fondles and experiments with various soap stars and celebrities', saying that he got 'somewhat swept away with it all'.
