Two young siblings heroically rescued their great-grandmother from drowning in a pool.

The incident unfolded on July 30 at a residence in Great Falls, Montana, when 9-year-old Ashton Montgomery, was enjoying a swim with his great-grandmother. The day took a dire turn when Ashton discovered his elderly relative unconscious in the pool.

Responding with composure, Ashton immediately dragged his unresponsive great-grandmother to the pool's edge, preventing a tragic outcome. At the same time, he instructed his 5-year-old sister, Ely Montgomery, to call 911 and alert their great-grandfather.

Ashton shared that he initially thought his great-grandmother was playing a game until he realised she wasn't waking up. Ely, from her side, admitted that the experience was really scary.

In recognition of the two siblings' bravery and decisive actions, a commendation ceremony was conducted by Great Falls Emergency Services on August 10.

During this event, the young siblings were given certificates and coins as a token of appreciation, acknowledging their role in saving their great-grandmother's life.

It is unclear why the elderly woman was left unconscious in the pool. Their great-grandmother said: "These kids are heroes. They've always been really precious to me and very special."

GFES says their actions saved their great grandmothers life. Justin Grohs, the general manager for GFES stated: "You took action and did what you needed to do to make sure your great grandma survived. So yeah, we're very, very proud of you guys as emergency responders."
