Kanye West has been accused of trying to "control" his partners across his multiple relationships in the last decade. Relationship experts have claimed that the rapper shows "red flags" as he tries to control the ways in which the women he's dated dress.

During his relationship with Julia Fox, the model-come-actress revealed that Kanye completely "transformed" her closet within days of their meeting. She told Interview magazine that he gifted her a "hotel suite full of new clothes" following their second date, and soon after, he convinced her to get rid of almost all of her "old clothes."

Julia admitted: "A couple days later, all my s**t was in boxes, gone. It was so cathartic. It wasn’t like I was just packing up my old clothes, it was like I was packing up my old life."

Similarly, Kim Kardashian's wardrobe was famously overhauled by Kanye in an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. He picked out items of hers that he didn't like and encouraged her to throw them away. After their split in 2021, Kim admitted that she was struggling to pick out outfits without the help of her ex-husband.

"I got to a point where I would ask him for advice for everything - down to what I wear. Now I’m having panic attacks like, what do I wear?" she explained. "I think that fashion has always been something that I’ve always been really into, but I’ve never been the creative."

Now, Kanye's new wife Bianca has undergone a similar transformation, chopping off her long brunette locks and dying her hair bleach blonde and swapping her classy style for Yeezy-inspired outfits. Relationship expert Betsy Chung told the Daily Mail that it can be a "healthy sign" to "dress alike, eat similar foods, and enjoy the same activities," but "it can be a major red flag of controlling behaviour if the influence seems one-sided, and results in one partner completely giving up parts of their personal identity."

She added: "When it comes to fashion, that might look like having a partiality for particular trends, but accepting that there's also value in the way your partner chooses to present themselves. There are many reasons individuals may attempt to exert control over their partner's appearances.

Betsy shared that some of the reasons could include "expecting their partners to be an accessory to supporting that desired image" and "feeling the need to control every little detail of their lives in order to feel that things are going well for them."

A second expert slammed Kanye, explaining that while it's OK to "encourage your partner to wear things that may be more flattering," but the Flashing Lights rapper has taken things a step too far. Sabrina Zohar said: "This is absolutely a red flag. True love and intimacy is formed with trust and acceptance, not trying to change someone.

"He is literally creating carbon copies of each [girl he dates] and controlling every aspect of their outward appearance to flex the control. This seems unhealthy to the core."
