A Burger King worker who went viral after it was revealed he hadn’t missed a day of work in a whopping 27 years has received more than £320,000 ($400,000) in donations.

Kevin Ford was a line cook and chef at the Burger King inside McCarren International Airport in Las Vegas for 27 years. Last year, he went viral after he posted a TikTok celebrating a milestone - in all his time, he never missed a single shift.

The restaurant managers rewarded him with a 'goody' bag that included a movie ticket, candy, pens, keychains, a Starbucks cup and other items. Users watching the video were quick to point out what a cheap and sad reward that was for a man who put in so much work - with one use dubbing it 'insulting'.

So Ford's daughter started a GoFundMe for her father, who she says worked at the fast food joint for so many years to put her and her siblings through college. The fundraiser took off, with many donating $27 to celebrate the milestone. A few celebrities even joined in and donated to the man.

Ford said he'd use the funds to visit all of his grandchildren and to help pay for his retirement - and after a year, he's managed to raise $400,000. Ford recently announced that he's using the money to retire.

On the GoFindMe page, Ford's daughter, Seryna wrote: "He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago.

Then as our family grew and he remarried, he continued to work there because of the amazing health insurance that was provided through this employer because it was unionized. This got all four of his daughters through high school and college with full healthcare coverage."

"My dad continues to work there, because though he does look young, he is coming up on retirement age and leaving would cost him his retirement. In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren," Seryna continued.

She later added some photos and said that her father used some of the funds to visit his grandchildren in Texas. He said that the fundraiser changed his life 'forever.' “The miracle of the generosity of so many people all around the world has allowed me to save for retirement and my children’s and grandchildren’s futures and even to someday soon own my own home dreams really can come true,” he added.
