Terrifying footage of the largest great white shark ever captured on camera has people vowing to never go in the world’s oceans again.

The predators are among the largest looking for prey in the seas and responsible for several attacks on humans every year, as they mistake swimmers for their usual food sources.

Great whites typically grow to around 16 feet in length but a video from 2015 caught one female on camera which was believed to top out at an awe-inspiring 20ft.

Experts believe the shark, nicknamed Deep Blue, weighed more than 5,500lbs and was around 50-years-old.

The predators typically live into their 70s, meaning the sharp-toothed sea villain could well still be swimming in the depths of the ocean, somewhere in the world.

The video has resurfaced on social media, the Daily Star reported.

She was seen by marine biologists studying tiger sharks off the coast of Mexico’s Guadalupe Island when she emerged from the gloom of the sea.

Pictures at the time showed the team in cages completely dwarfed by the huge shark who swam very close to them.

One person quipped: “We’re going to need a bigger ocean.”

But her most astonishing moment came when model Ocean Ramsey was able to hold one of her fins while swimming beside her.

One theory as to why the predator was so placid is that it had already fed on nearby whale carcasses.

While some experts are sceptical as to whether the shark in the video was Deep Blue or a smaller female great white called Haole Girl.

Deep Blue appeared to continue with her friendly demeanour in Mexico where she was filmed calmly swimming around a shark cage and taking curious bites out of the frame.

Earlier this month horrific footage showed the terrifying moment an tourist was mauled to death while swimming off the coast of a French Pacific island.

The tourist - who is thought to have been travelling alone - was around 500ft from shore when the attacked, tearing off his leg and a section of his torso.

Australian news outlets showed a clip of heavy splashing in the open sea.

In CCTV footage, lifesavers can be seen rushing out on jet skis to the man's aid.

In the hope of halting the beast's vicious offshore rampage, officials launched three drones to track it down.
