Brody Jenner says he wants to do 'exact opposite' to Caitlyn Jenner as a parent

Brody Jenner spoke about Caitlyn Jenner in a recent video amid becoming a parent himself

Brody Jenner has said he plans to do the "exact opposite" to Caitlyn Jenner as a parent, adding that he wants to be present for "all [the] incredible events" in his child's life.

The remark comes amid the announcement that Brody, 39, and his fiancée Tia Blanco, 26, welcomed their newborn daughter Honey Jenner on July 29. The couple announced the birth of their baby in a video on YouTube this week.

During the vlog, Brody - known for having been a cast member on The Hills - spoke about his own upbringing. He suggested that his parent Caitlyn, now 73, had been absent at times and that he doesn't plan to do the same.

Brody said in a voiceover: "I think that what I'm most excited about is doing things differently than my [parent] did. Growing up I didn't have the greatest relationship with Caitlyn. She wasn't really around for me growing up."

The reality TV star continued in the video: "So I think that just being ... doing the exact opposite, being the absolute best father I could possibly be and getting ready for the journey." Brody added: "[I'm] just so very excited."

He continued: "Tia and I are just absolutely thrilled. She's gonna be the best mom. And hopefully I can just be the absolute best father, and be there for all these incredible events in her life." He added: "I just can't wait to meet her."

Brody is among the youngest of Caitlyn's six children. She shares Brody and his brother Brandon Jenner, 42, with Linda Thompson, 73. Caitlyn shares her eldest kids Burt Jenner, 44, and Cassandra Marino, 43, with Chrystie Scott. Whilst she shares her two youngest kids Kendall Jenner, 27, and Kylie Jenner, 26, with Kris Jenner, 67.

Caitlyn has previously spoken about having been absent from the lives of her four eldest kids when they were growing up. She said during a 20/20 interview in 2015 that she'd been absent whilst struggling with her identity, decades prior to her transition.

Caitlyn told presenter Diane Sawyer: "The big formative years for them, I was really struggling with these issues. I talked to all the boys about this after the fact, that, yeah, I didn't do a good job. And I apologized to my kids for that."
