BBC Breakfast’s Sally Nugent has showed her support for her co-star after her new "saucy" career change away from TV.

Last month it was revealed that Carol Kirkwood has written her own book called Secrets of the Villa Amore. The 61-year-old is best known for being the show's weather presenter.

Carol shared with her 59,000 social media followers that she had a slight career change as she revealed she is now an author. She told her fans: "Enjoy some guaranteed sunshine and escape to the Amalfi coast for sun, secrets and scandal..." Meanwhile, 52-year-old Sally is currently enjoying some summer sun while on holiday and is relaxing by reading her colleague's new book.

As she takes a break from presenting the show, she shared her love of the new novel on Instagram. Sally took to her page and posted a snap of herself reading the book from the poolside of her hotel.

She captioned the post: "The perfect summer book," along with two love heart emojis. Sally has presented BBC Breakfast since 2021 while Carol has been part of the flagship morning programme since it's launch in 1983.

Sally has been taking some time off the show and recently celebrated her birthday. She posted a photo with her girlfriends as they enjoyed a sunshine break to an undisclosed location.

They all held champagne flutes as Sally sat at the front in a white dress with bright pink details. She captioned the picture: "When you say you want a low key birthday. And everyone knows you don’t really mean it. Thank you to lovely friends here and at home for making it so special xxxx."

Sally celebrated her 52nd birthday on August 5, when she was sent sweet messages from her BBC Breakfast co-stars past and present. Co-host Jon Kay wrote: "Just perfect x". While Steph McGovern, who used to work on the show, added: "Happy Birthday gorgeous" alongside three love heart emojis.
