A mum-of-four made headlines when she showed up for jury duty with her triplets and five-year-old daughter in tow to avoid the $1000 fine.

Torrey Scow initially believed that her lack of childcare options would warrant a rescheduling of her jury duty. But instead, she was summoned with just a few days notice.

Desperate to convey the challenges she faced, she took a video of her lively trio of 18-month-old triplets - Lexi, Zoey, and Lincoln - and her patient five-year-old daughter, Emory, at the court house.

With her husband, Kory, occupied at work and her usual babysitter unavailable, Torrey faced the prospect of fulfilling her civic duty accompanied by her boisterous brood.

Torrey told PEOPLE: "I even sent [the court] a picture because I wanted them to know how hard it is for me to find a babysitter. The only person I have that can handle all four kids is either myself or my husband, or my mum. It'd be easier if they were older toddlers, but they're still babies who need bottles and changing at different times. But they ended up sending me a random day around three days out from the day I got it."

She added: "I told my husband, 'Don't worry about it. I bet if I just take them, they'll probably see me and send me right home. It'll be fine,'"

However, the reality turned out to be quite different. Upon arriving at the courthouse with her kids Torrey found herself the center of attention, with her energetic trio of toddlers.

"They start screaming, but they're in this stage where they scream at the top of their lungs. It's not possible to get one baby quiet, let alone three. And my older daughter is so good, just sitting there and trying to help as they throw their bottles on the floor and everyone's looking at us," she said.

As the proceedings commenced, Torrey juggled her duties as a juror with her responsibilities as a mother. Her arsenal of snacks initially managed to keep the toddlers content, but their restlessness soon prevailed.

She said: "I thought for sure the judge would see me and excuse me, but he started going through so many questions. And I couldn't even hear them because my babies are so loud and other people in the room are asking him to repeat questions."

Soon an officer recognized her predicament and led her and the children to a secluded area outside the courtroom. Armed with a box of toys and stuffed animals, Torrey finally managed to engage her toddlers, allowing her to listen to the proceedings.

After enduring an eventful two and a half hours, Torrey was ultimately released from jury duty, with only a single fellow juror joining her in being excused. While physically and emotionally drained, Torrey said she wouldn't have it any other way.

She said: "You're going to have rough moments, but if you even have one child or no children, you have rough moments. But the good times, you get time three, and it is the absolute best."

Posting the clip of the toddlers in the courthouse on her instagram, Torrey said she hoped to raise awareness of the realities of being a busy mum.

She wrote in the post: "If only you could have seen the looks of everyone when I walked in…I felt so bad for everyone in there with us! Definitely one of my worst mom moments! But it’s over now thank goodness!

"For those who don’t know if you don’t show up you are fined $1,000 and you don’t get to choose the day so unfortunately had to take them all since I didn’t have a sitter. But also didn’t expect it to go that long…but we made it and we showed up!"
