Gemma Atkinson slams vile mum-shaming trolls who branded her 'lazy' and 'fat'
Gemma Atkinson has hit back at mum-shamers who trolled the actress for being "lazy" and "fat".
The former Hollyoaks star received the nasty comments after she was "papped" leaving the doctors with her mum and baby. The 38-year-old welcomed her second child Thiago just three weeks ago with Strictly Come Dancing professional Gorka Marquez, who already shared a daughter, Mia together. Gemma recalled the horrific abuse she was sent after an article about herself went up online.
Taking to her Instagram, Gemma explained: "Me and my mum were out the other day and a guy papped us - I had no issues, he was doing his job - but it was funny that everything in the article was very, very incorrect. They said we were on a shopping spree. The truth is we were going to the doctor, I needed some steroid cream for my pile!

The actress recently gave birth to her son Thiago"So I had an appointment to pick that up and I'm still in these [maternity] dresses because the scars [from childbirth] rub, so I looked like a bag of rags. My mum was pushing the pram because it's quite hilly where I live, I didn't want to overdo it uphill. When I came out to the doctors I was looking at the medication ingredients list on my phone to see if it would affect my breastfeeding and get in my bloodstream, you know what I'm like."
Gemma shared: "Anyway I get a lot of DMs, some are lovely, and some of them aren't. I've already had one today saying Thiago shouldn't be in the sun. I've had another saying how lazy I was letting my mum push the pram. I got another saying 'You used to be fit and you're still fat'. So I was thinking all of this was coming from an article which was completely untrue!"

The actress confessed she deliberated on whether to tell her mum about the vile comments and eventually did. However, she joked that she was more interested in how she looked in the pics. "She said she looked alright, but told me I looked awful," laughed Gemma. The mum-of-two recently opened up on the struggle of having more than one child.
She recently took part in a Q&A with fans on social media. One follower asked her what she found was the hardest part about going from one child to two. Gemma explained: "For me, splitting my time between the two. We read to Mia every single night and last night Tio needed feeding at the same time as her bedtime read."
The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress added: "I got round it by suggesting she read to us while I fed him on my knee and she did and loved it. But I went o bed feeling a little sad that I hadn't done what we do most nights. I can't yet feed him in a sling due to my scar. He has to be [laying] on me or in the rugby ball position next to me so I'm not bearing all the weight. Once I can feed him hands-free it'll help with anything like that I'm sure."
