Pregnant Gemma Atkinson was forced to confront an unusual fear thanks to daughter Mia.

Daughter Mia, who she shares with fiancé and Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Marquez, recently fell ill and vomited. But for mum Gemma, 38, it meant confronting a longstanding fear of sickness and vomit.

The expectant mum revealed she was forced to face the vomit, which she described on her Instagram stories to her 1.8 million followers.

Yet three year old Mia wasn't fussed by the sickness, as Gemma revealed: "She just did it though. No s**** given about it and no tears."

"She just did it though. No s**** given about it and no tears.

"When she was clean, got straight back in bed and back to sleep."

She added: "I think it actually helped clear all the mucus off her chest and she's totally fine now."

In another Instagram story, she revealed she's been inundated with DMs from other adults who also face a fear of vomit and sickness. Gemma shared: "It's bizarre isn't it? I've had it since I was a kid.

"Even now as an adult, with early stages of little man I wake Gorka up in the middle of the night and ask him to come with me."

The radio presenter then also shared screenshots of messages from followers who confessed to the same fear. She also shared an insight into the early stages of her relationship with Gorka, when the spanish dancer came to look after her when she contracted norovirus whilst being on the Strictly Come Dancing tour.

Gemma revealed: "Gorka and I weren't "official" then and I remember he got the key to my room and came to check on me as I couldn't get to the phone.

"I was lay next to the loo with just a bra on , lay on a pillow sobbing."

She added: "Gorka learnt then and there I was weak and pathetic when it came to being sick. Give me physical pain any day over puking."

Gemma, who's expecting her second child this year, has also opened up about her decision to hire a private midwife for her second pregnancy.

The former Hollyoaks actress revealed the decision after opening up about her birth struggles with first child Mia. She revealed she had a difficult childbirth and almost died as she started haemorrhaging in labour and her daughter's heart rate began to drop.

For this pregnancy she admitted she had chosen to get the support of a private midwife, but shared her support for NHS staff striking for better pay and work conditions.

Sharing her decision behind getting a private midwife, Gemma wrote: "I love our NHS but I know how stretched they are and with the strikes still happening I felt uneasy at the thought of history repeating itself with my pregnancy and not enough staff to help. (BTW, I fully support their reasons for striking and they should absolutely be paid a hell of a lot more for what they do!)

"Our baby will be born at an NHS hospital but my pre and post care will be done by Rach. Last time I was told Mia was going to be a big baby and she was absolutely tiny so this time I felt I needed and wanted monitoring more closely.

"I'll be having a lot more scans this time keeping a close eye on baby's size (so far everything for baby and me results wise are spot on and as expected) [heart emoji]."
