Prince William has been declared America's favourite public figure in a new poll.

The 41-year-old Prince of Wales beat out his brother Prince Harry, despite the younger royal residing in the States for a few years with his wife Meghan Markle, to nab the honour.

In the survey conducted by polling giant Gallup asked US voters who their favourite fifteen public figures on the world stage were, William reigned supreme, beating the likes of US President Donald Trump and his successor Joe Biden.

Gallup admittedly noted their surprise over the list, with William topping polls with both Republicans and Democrats.

Lydia Saad, Gallup's director of US social research, said the results highlight how William is "out of the partisan fray" in the UK and not vocal about involvement in politics in any way.

"The much higher ratings he receives from older Americans and women may tie back to their affection for his mother and feelings of empathy towards him over her death," she said.

Hinting at how deeply American society has been polarised, Lydia added: 'The US may need to look beyond its borders to find public figures that a majority of Americans feel good about."

According to the poll commissioned by Newsweek in March, Harry's popularity had dropped 48 points in the United States since December 2022.

After William, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Jill Biden, King Charles, and Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts rounded out the top five.

Meanwhile, while he has been living in sunny California for the last two years with his wife Meghan and their two children, Harry was seen enjoying a fun-filled lads' trip to Japan.

He was joined on the trip by best pal and professional polo player Nacho Figueras,

The purpose of the trip to Tokyo was so the two men could attend the ISPS Sports Values Summit to raise awareness of Sentebale and the Invictus Games.

During a panel chat, Harry stressed the importance of teamwork, saying sport required having 'a dream' and the 'need for community'. He said: "I have long believed that sport is a conduit for healing – not just for the mind and body but the world.

"Sport requires having a dream and the need for community. Whether banded together in victory or showing up with respect in loss, no one ever crosses a finish line or scores a goal without the help and belief of others.

"The lessons we learn on the field are often the same principles of philanthropy; that a mission, hard work, dedication, and partnership can make even the impossible, possible. That is what giving back requires, and we are all capable of creating or joining a team to do so."
