Sydney Sweeney admits she felt 'beat up' after co-star romance rumours
Sydney Sweeney has opened up about feeling "beat up" after rumours started circulating that she was dating Top Gun star Glen Powell.
The actress, who starred as Cassie Howard in Euphoria, was the subject of intense gossip earlier this year after she was spotted cosying up to her co-star during a joint appearance at CinemaCon. Sydney and Glen star alongside each other in the upcoming romcom Anyone But You.
There had been rumours of on set chemistry between the actors and they had to film passionate kiss scenes for the movie. Fans became convinced the pair were then dating, despite Sydney being engaged to her long-term partner Jonathan Davino.
The 25-year-old has now said it was tough to listen to all of the rumours. She admitted she wished she had been able to defend herself.
Sydney revealed: "Sometimes I feel beat up by it. It’s hard to sit back and watch, and not be able to stand up for yourself." She also said it's hard trying to get her family to understand that it's often best to ignore the rumours.
'I started my business with £50 at uni - now it's a multi-million pound empire'In an interview with Variety, she explained: "I'll see my uncle comment on things and I'm like, 'You gotta stop'. But it's so hard, because I grew up in a small town, and they don't get the business of it all." She added: "It was all these tabloids and headlines, but no one knew the actual story."
Following the rumours that Sydney and Glen were dating, the 34-year-old actor reportedly split from his model girlfriend Gigi Paris. She hinted at the breakup on Instagram as she posted a video of herself with the caption: "Know your worth & onto the next."
Sydney first rose to fame after starring in the TV series Everything Sucks! in 2018. She also appeared in The Handmaid's Tale and Sharp Objects.
The actress is most famous for her roles in Euphoria and The White Lotus, for which she received nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards. Speaking to the publication, she opened up on reports that her parents support contributed to their bankruptcy filing.
"I'll never know. I think as a kid, as the eldest, I feel a responsibility. They'll say no, or they'll say yes, depending on what fight it is. But I'll always feel responsible. But that's okay," she admitted.
