Here's what Royal family actually does all day - from King to William and Kate

Until the glorious day they welcome a fly-on-the-wall camera crew into their (many) homes, Kardashian style, the question remains: What exactly do the Royal family do all day?

We see them out and about on public engagements, but how do they fill their time behind close doors? Do they spend ages on the sofa, eating cheese straight from the packet, picking the fluff from their belly buttons and Googling themselves? Or do they wile away the hours trying on their jewels, eating five-bird roasts and getting squiffy? Sadly it's neither of these scenarios (that we know of).

King Charles

For now all we know is he heads up 13 Prince's Charities, including The Prince's Trust, The British Asian Trust and Business in the Community as well as being the Head of State of the UK and the Commonwealth, which we'd say is a pretty big job so presumably all of these keep him busy.

A keen gardener, Charles has also authored two books on ecology, Harmony: A New Way of Looking At The World, and On the Future of Food. Not only that, but he also devotes time to another hobby of his, watercolour painting, though the reviews have not been kind.

Prince William

Since quitting his part-time job for the East Anglian air ambulance, Prince William has focused on parenting and royal commitments, especially now he is the heir to the throne not to mention the Prince of Wales. There was criticism in the past the William was 'workshy' and Wills talked about his readiness to do more in the way of royal duties in an interview with the BBC, saying he was also "concentrating very much on my role as a father.

At the time he said: "I'm a new father and I take my duties and my responsibilities to my family very seriously and I want to bring my children up as good people with the idea of service and duty to others as very important." William has now also pledged to eradicate homelessness from the UK with a hugely ambitious scheme.

Not only that but he is the brains behind the Earthshot prize, which awards five winners for their contributions to environmentalism. He also likes to ski. And this is all before he devotes his time to the upbringing of his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Kate Middleton

The Princess of Wales is a full-time mum as well as, like husband William, a very busy working royal. Kate is the patron of many charities, including Action for Children, the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, the Anna Freud Centre and the National Portrait Gallery.

She is also a passionate advocate for the early years development of children, which she describes as her "life's work". The long-term project. Just like the Queen she's a keen photographer and has been given honorary lifetime membership of the prestigious Royal Photographic Society in recognition of her 'talent and enthusiasm'.

Eagle-eyed royal watchers have spotted her on the school run and taking the kids swimming at the pool in Buckingham Palace. There's also maintaining her famous hair do, which as her hairdresser recently revealed, is no mean feat.

A few of them still have day jobs, too

Princesses Eugenie is an associate director at an art gallery and Princess Beatrice is a business consultant according to her website. Zara Tindall is a world champion equestrian while her brother, Peter Phillips works for the Royal Bank of Scotland.
