Kane scores four for Tottenham in pre-season clash after Bayern deadline passes

Harry Kane scored four times in Tottenham's pre-season friendly match against Shakhtar Donetsk on Sunday amid rampant speculation about his future.

The England captain has entered the final year of his contract and Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are hoping to bring him to Germany. Bayern have already had two bids rejected by Spurs, who value Kane at over £100m, but recently tabled a third offer.

It was claimed by the Telegraph that Bayern set a deadline of midnight Friday for Spurs to accept the offer. However, chairman Daniel Levy has 'ignored' the deadline and instead flew out to the US.

Kane skippered the Spurs side for the pre-season friendly and was given a decent reception from the home supporters before breaking the deadlock from the penalty spot. Shakhtar levelled before the break but Kane put the hosts ahead by heading in James Maddison's cross.

Dejan Kulusevski then found Kane to secure his hat-trick much to the delight of the Spurs faithful before he added a fourth late on. Ange Postecoglou wants to see his future resolved as soon as possible, with his side facing Burnley in their season opener next week.

He said: "I don't think that's good for anyone. I don't think it's good for Harry, I don't think it's good for the club, because as laser-focused as we want to be, you end up sort of repeating yourself along the way. But the flip side of that is I don't want to put a deadline on it, because that adds even more pressure.

"You want these things to happen for the right reasons. The reality of it is he's still a contracted player at our football club, so that's the way I see him. It's not like his contract is ending on the 12th [of August] and he's got to make a decision, he’s got another year.

"So from that part, I am not relaxed but I am not putting pressure on him or anyone else at the football club, saying 'well we need to do this'. But I don't think deep down any of us want it to go on for too long."

James Maddison, meanwhile, is keen for Kane to stay at Spurs and insisted the ongoing uncertainty surrounding his future has not been a distraction. Maddison recently joined Tottenham in a £40m move from Leicester and said: "It hasn't been a distraction, Harry is super professional.

"I won't go into details because I don't know anything and let's be respectful about Harry's situation. "Everyone knows what Harry Kane is like, he's a super professional guy and whatever club he is at, whenever he goes into training he gives 100 per cent and it's the same as all the lads so not at all really.

Spurs target Micky van de Ven was also in the stands at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and is set to undergo a medical this week ahead of a £43m move from Wolfsburg.
