A familiar face will be heading to Coronation Street as actress Lucy Fallon is returning to the soap - three years after quitting the Cobbles of Weatherfield.

The 27-year-old actress played Bethany Platt on the long-running ITV soap from 2015 until 2020 but is heading back to the Corrie studios in the coming weeks to film brand new scenes. It is expected that Lucy’s new scene’s won’t air until the new year - meaning she will be back on the show three years since she was last seen.

Fans of Coronation Street will be well aware that Lucy’s character was involved in some of the most prolific storylines in the soap’s history - including a controversial grooming storyline. While Bethany was last seen leaving the street to pursue a career in magazine journalism in London.

Now The Sun on Sunday reports the character will be back. A source told the publication: “Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline.

“Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed. She discussed it with her boyfriend, and family, because she’s a mum now with a baby.

“Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return.”

Indeed, back in 2021, Lucy herself hinted that she wouldn’t say no to returning to the soap. She said: “Never say never. I didn’t leave for a particular reason or because I didn’t like it. I left because I wanted to go down different avenues.”

While Lucy’s career somewhat stalled away from Corrie - with just one acting credit away from the soap - her personal life has flourished. She has been in a relationship with footballer Ryan Ledson since 2020 and they welcomed a son named Sonny in January this year.
