Meghan Markle has altered her engagement ring that has Diana’s diamonds by giving it a touch of modern glamour.

The Duchess of Sussex’s ring is made up of three diamonds of different sizes which are set on a gold band and includes a tribute from Harry. He put a lot of care into the details of the ring which also has a connection to his mum.

Similar to the engagement ring that William gave to Kate, Harry included a link to Diana with diamonds that were part of her own collection. Meghan’s ring has a large diamond in the middle with two smaller jewels which belonged to her mother-in-law.

Daena Borrowman, from jewellerybox, reportedly said: “Meghan Markle ’s three stone ‘trilogy’ or ‘trinity’ ring designed by Prince Harry consists of a large cushion-cut central diamond sourced by her husband from Botswana.

"It is very special because it is flanked on both sides by two smaller round diamonds that are heirlooms from her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s own collection. She added to the Express: "Prince Harry’s heartwarming purpose behind the stones was so that his mother could always be present with them on their 'crazy journey together'."

Botswana has a significance for Harry as the source of the diamond because he reportedly sees it as a “second time” and spent time there following his mother’s death. He also invited Meghan there for five days soon after they started going out together. Speaking after her engagement, Meghan said that the ring was “perfect” as she proudly displayed it to the world’s media. But she has since made a small alteration to it with fashionable “scallop diamond detailing” on the band.

Joanna Wyganowska, from Queensmith, said of Meghan's ring: "Trilogy rings are really traditional - each of the three stones are said to represent the past, present and future of the couple’s relationship. The central diamond of a trilogy ring like Meghan’s is usually the largest, representing the most important phase, the present.”

Meghan is known to have a stunning jewellery collection and she added to it last year with a new diamond ring that has a special “empowering” message behind it. The piece of jewellery, made by Shiffon CO is its , was created "in honour of the 50th anniversary of Title IX, the landmark legislation that paved the way for women in sports." According to Shiffon Co's website, the ring "pays homage to the iconic Tennis Bracelet".
