Meghan Markle only has 'four guaranteed' people at her birthday amid drama

Meghan Markle is celebrating her 42nd birthday today with those dearest to her. While we don't know exactly what she's doing, it's likely she'll spend the day with her family.

However a difficult few months means the former actress may opt for low key celebrations rather than having a big do. In fact, a royal expert believes there are only four "guaranteed" guests.

Her birthday comes while relations with her royal in-laws are still extremely strained, made worse than ever this year by Harry's tell-all autobiography. It's also been reported that many of the couple's celebrity friends are keeping their distance after their decision to spill secrets, including that Harry did drugs at Courteney Cox's house.

Speaking to The Mirror US, royal biographer Ingrid Seward explains: "In old Hollywood everyone lied about their age. Some forged birth certificates to appear younger. Now, having a younger husband is cool as Meghan discovered. As she celebrates her 42nd birthday she can embrace the fact she is four years older than Harry.

"There will be celebrations in the Sussex’s Montecito home. As a Leo, Meghan enjoys being the centre of attention and Archie who is 4-, and 2-year-old, Lilibet along with Dad, Harry will make sure she has a party. What Meghan won’t be able to have is a big family event. Apart from mum, Doria there are no relations around. California is a long way to go for tea, but maybe Elton John might send his private jet and take them to France for the weekend.

"When you are rich and your friends are even richer anything can happen. The rich love showing off on their birthdays and with a bit of help, Meghan can do so too.

"It maybe a stay at home with cupcakes and party hats or it may be something totally outrageous. The only certain guests are the children, the chickens and the dogs.

"No royal rellies are going to be there. Princess Eugenie has a new baby and Beatrice is busy in the hotspots of Europe. Sadly, for them all, George, Charlotte and Louis hardly know Meghan and will only have met Archie and Lilibet briefly. No family but no doubt something super deluxe from Prince Harry instead."
