Rita Ora and her husband Taika Waititi have finally shared details of their wedding day a year later. The happy couple wed in secret last year and had fans guessing when they had said "I do" to each other.

To mark one year of marriage, they have now given fans more details of their special day. The couple were met with much speculation over where and when they wed, but Rita and Taika have now confessed they married in Los Angles on August 4 2022. They even planned their whole wedding in just two weeks after Rita popped the question to Taika while on holiday in Palm Springs a few weeks earlier.

Speaking of their big day, the happy couple shared they kept the numbers small. “There were about eight people there—just close friends and family, and parents on Zoom,” said Hollywood film director Taika. He explained they didn't have any table settings or any “stressful things“ that go with weddings.

He told Vogue: “My daughters were there, and they made everything really fun and easy: I think just because we didn’t have the pressure of having caterers and all of these things, you know, people turning up late, and all of the different moving parts.” Rita added: "I felt really peaceful actually, it was almost like another day. We just all dressed up and got married.”

The singer confirmed she and Taika had tied the knot in a secret ceremony while she discussed filming her new wedding-themed music video for her song You Only Love Me, on Heart Radio Breakfast in January. In the new snaps shared of their wedding, Rita can be seen in a gorgeous Tom Ford white lace dress as she shows her new ring off to the camera alongside hubby Taika in a checked navy suit.

She shared how she wore her mum's pearls that she got married in and her sister Elena put the bracelet on her wrist. Rita's sister walked her down the aisle, as the pop star said the day was ”really simple and blissful and calm and private and fun.” After the wedding ceremony, the couple went to their friend Guy Oseary’s house for a dinner party. As a surprise wedding gift, one friend hired an Elvis impersonator to serenade them before they all danced the night away to a playlist they made themselves.

The newlyweds also shared a kiss after saying their nuptials as Rita held a single rose in her hand. They shared snaps from their big day which shows them both posing in front of the iconic Hollywood sign as well as a beaming Rita under her veil. The couple were first linked in April 2021, with their relationship quickly turning serious as Rita moved into Taika's stunning home in Australia.

They sparked much speculation over their big day, as the Hot Right Now hitmaker told Vogue it was ”quite entertaining” to see all the rumours. Announcing her wedding back in January on Heart Breakfast, she said: ”I am officially off the market people. I chose to keep it more private and keep it to myself more but with my new video I am playing on what could have been. When the rumours came out is she, isn't she? I wanted to play on it. I wanted to do a wedding that didn't go to plan… that's not to say that is actually what happened.”

Revealing more about her special day, Rita said: ”It was perfect. It was exactly, exactly how I wanted. It was nice and perfect. It is nice to keep some things just to myself sometimes it was nice and sweet… Sorry it's not that interesting. One day I will throw a big party.” In an exclusive chat with The Mirror last month, Rita said of Taika: “I’ve never met someone who is so supportive of my work the way he has been. He loves all the songs on the album, including You and I – which is one of the most honest songs I’ve ever written. I don’t feel like there’s a lot to hide behind, I recorded it the day after we got married and it’s my perfect wedding song.”
