Meghan Markle will take part in sweet birthday tradition inspired by her mother
Meghan Markle is celebrating her 42nd birthday and she will no doubt be taking part in a yearly tradition which was inspired by her mother Doria Ragland.
The mother-daughter duo share a very close bond, with the Duchess of Sussex previously describing Doria as her "best friend". Meghan looks up to her mum and has even named her as one of 10 women who changed her life.
As the actress celebrates her birthday, Meghan admitted she will be sure to make new resolutions for herself and what she hopes to see in the year ahead. This special tradition was started by Doria, who has likened birthdays to New Year.
Writing on her defunct blog The Tig in 2016, Meghan said: "My mom has always said that birthdays are your own personal New Year. Your own chance to make resolutions just for yourself and what you prognosticate for your year ahead."
Meghan kicked off her birthday celebrations in style as she was joined by her husband Prince Harry for a special date night at the Tre Lune restaurant in their Montecito neighbourhood on Wednesday night. They were joined by a group of pals, including Meghan's long-time friends Heather Dorak and her husband Matt Cohen.

Meghan's birthday comes just days after she and Harry put on a united front amid nasty rumours that their marriage is on the rocks.
