Kimberley Walsh will be taking a break from hosting BBC's Morning Live - the star announced after she had presented her last show with co-star Gethin Jones.

The Girls Aloud singer, 42, shared the news to her followers on Instagram, revealing that she will be away from the studio for a month before returning to her role in September. Taking to her page this evening, Kimberley posted a picture from her last day on set and said she is "checking out" from the show.

Captioning the photos, she wrote: "Last one for the summer, I’ll be back with my @bbcmorninglive fam in September! For now I’m checking out and waiting for the sun……" Walsh stunned viewers this morning after showcasing her latest fashion outfit during the programme. She wore a bright green floral print dress and rocked a blonde bob as she sat on the famous sofa alongside Gethin Jones.

Fans were quick to compliment Kimberley on her look. One social media user wrote: "I love your contributions to Morning Live and your style is beautiful." Another person added: "You're looking very nice in this photo on the set of @bbcmorninglive in Manchester today @kimberleywalshofficial."

It is believed that the singer-turned-presenter will be enjoying the summer with her three sons - Bobby, eight, Cole, six, and Nate, two. She is married to long-term partner Justin Scott, who is a former member of the British boy band Triple 8. The couple tied the knot in January 2016.

The news comes after her co-host Gethin Jones admitted he had a “scary” stalker when he worked on Blue Peter. The 45-year-old TV presenter, who now hosts the Morning Live show, said the BBC were so worried they even hired security to protect him.

Opening up on the Rig Biz podcast, Gethin shared he found the experience “terrifying”. Asked if he’d ever had a stalker, he said: “I did, back in Blue Peter. It was weird to the point where I had some security, which I thought was a lot. But they felt... obviously they knew stuff I didn’t. You know, you go and do your job every day thinking that’s it, and then for whatever reason.

“I think it’s interesting on telly, the medium of TV is really powerful, and people think they know you really well and there’s occasions where you maybe don’t get back to someone because you just don’t, because you don’t know them and they find that offensive. And there are people who have got all sorts of issues as well, so you’ve got to be really careful.”
