Maya Jama has addressed the technical glitches experienced during the Love Island final, which she was praised for handling well. The presenter, 28, managed to keep calm under the pressure of Monday night's live final despite the many errors occurring in the build up to Jess and Sammy being crowned.

As the summer series reached its much anticipated final episode, viewers were distracted after the show was beset with blunders as Sammy and Jess' best bits were played in error, instead of Whitney and Lochan's highlights. And when the autocue nudged Maya to introduce Sammy and Jess' montage again she did so – but they were not show, leaving the live audience in silence.

However, the presenter soon issued a correction to explain to viewers they had been hit with technical difficulties and soon moved on swiftly. Maya laughed off the errors as she joked: "That best bits situation keeps rattling everyone!"

Taking to her social media days after the final, the Love Island host said she was "bloody proud" of how she handled the technical errors. She wrote: "Just watched back the final and so cute. Also had my first live autocue going down situation and I am bloody proud of the way I handled it (presenters will know how much of a madness that is). Sooo excited for the reunion on Sunday."

Viewers noticed errors from the beginning of the show, as the boys headed to the barbers for a trim ahead of the big result. Yet fans of the long-runningITVreality show were convinced that the barbers appearing on the show were extras - who didn’t cut the lads’ hair at all. Many took toTwitterto slam what they considered to be a production failure.

One tweeted: “Tyrique's hair still looks the same, I said it, the barbers weren't doing anything.” Another agreed, tweeting: “Why did the lads all go to the barbers and come out looking exactly the same and no hair cut or beard trim then tonight live all fresh trims! Ridiculous.”

It was just the start of blunders being noticed by fans as technical difficulties hit as host Maya Jama chatted with the finalists Whitney and Lochan and Sammy and Jess.

However, Maya's handling of the gaffes was praised on Twitter as one wrote: "Thank you for two incredible series this year @MayaJama you did amazing and she handles Live TV like the absolute pro she is, my nerves would be gone". Another added: "Maya handling these glitches like a pro @MayaJama unreal #LoveIsland".

"This is why @MayaJama is presenter GOALS!!! Soooo smooth, even when it goes wrong live on TV," a third penned, which Maya responded to by writing: "Guyssss live tv is a madness but we made it in the end, atleast you know it’s really live".

And the ultimate result also caused upset. Jess and Sammy were crowned the winners and were left to split the £50,000 prize - and beating bookies favourites Whitney and Lochan. While Tyrique Hyde and Ella Thomas landed in third place and Molly Marsh and Zachariah Noble were fourth.
