Corrie star's two decade relationship with Emmerdale star as he makes return

Jane Danson is best known to viewers as Leanne Battersby on Coronation Street - but her husband is a soap star in his own right.

The much-loved actress has been on the Cobbles for several years, but her husband Robert Beck has also had a stint on the ITV soap. Robert is joining Emmerdale in the upcoming episodes, his second time on the soap as he plays a new character.

Robert will star this time round as Harry, who is an acquaintance of Nate's old school friend Corey. He is going into business with Cain Dingle, with it no doubt set to cause carnage as does most business deals in the Dales.

He had previously played Gavin Ferris on the ITV soap, an ex of Bernice Blackstock, whilst Jane played Leanne on Corrie. Robert also joined Coronation Street in 2008 for a year, where he played a man called Jimmy, the henchman of Tony Gordon.

Jane and Robert have been together for nearly a quarter of a century and recently, she took to social media to celebrate his birthday whilst also thanking the ITV soap for bringing him into her life.

Sharing some loved up snaps of the pair, she wrote on social media: "Happy birthday my love @robertbeck529. And congratulations on your @emmerdale return - I owe Emmerdale a lot - 24 years of us - I love you darling."

After his return to Emmerdale was confirmed, Robert added: "I am thrilled to be working on Emmerdale again, it's a great show that I have followed for years, with a fabulous cast. It has always had a special place in my heart. I had a fantastic time working on the show playing Gavin Ferris, 24 years ago. The cast and crew were so welcoming and of course, I met my wife because of that job so I have much to thank Emmerdale for! I'm looking forward to getting involved and to working with such a great bunch again."

Jane says the pair being in the same industry, specifically working in soaps, has helped their marriage: "The good thing about it is that we both get soaps, and we both understand the schedule.

"Sometimes things change, sometimes he might be in early and sometimes he might be in late. So we just kind of got our diaries out together and kind of planned our week," she explained of how their connection is only enhanced by their similar careers.
