Fred Sirieix had furious clashes with Sara Davies while filming new BBC show
First Dates star Fred Sirieix has revealed that he had a number of major clashes with Dragons’ Den’s stars Sara Davies and Raj Somaiya, while working on their new BBC show, The Ultimate Wedding Planner.
Fred, 51, who is judging the BBC competition which sees eight aspiring wedding planners battle it out to transform six real couples’ weddings in just three days, admitted he was embroiled in ‘quite a few fights’ with Sara throughout the duration of filming - and it was all down to one factor.
The popular TV star butted heads with Sara, 39, over who she felt should be eliminated from the competition at the end of every week. Although the pair had their fair share of disagreements throughout filming, Fred described his arguments with Sara as 'interesting' as he appeared to see a different perspective once the battles were over.
"Me and Sara were in quite a few fights, very healthy debates, [which arose from us seeing] a situation or person through our very own specific lens and through our own experience," he told The Metro. "And so it was about debating the pros and the cons of our thinking and being open to listening to one another. It was really, really interesting."
Fred went on to describe Sara as ‘strong-willed’, and ‘very funny’ as he said the pair engaged in ‘healthy' debates over deciding which planner should be dumped from the show. "I wanted what I wanted, and she wanted what she wanted, and we have to argue like the Romans would do in their parliament: they debated and fought for their corner. So that’s what we did and it was great," he told.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessThe new BBC show sees the planners take over the design and guest experience for six real-life weddings. From table scaping, incredible floral centrepieces, hand crafted aisle runners, personalised set menus, and bespoke themed installation builds, to spectacular firework displays, acrobatics, choreographed dance troops or incredible light displays, each week the planners have just three days to make the couples’ wildest dreams a reality, supersizing their wedding day to transform it from ordinary to extraordinary.
With the couples’ ambitious wedding wish lists ranging from a 1950’s vintage Hollywood glamour wedding to a Caribbean infused autumnal fantasyland, a regal regency extravaganza, a sustainable farmyard festival, and a millionaire’s garden party, our eight wedding planner wannabes need to pull out all the stops to hit the couples’ brief, face the Truth Booth, and impress three demanding judges: hospitality expert Fred, craft and business guru Sara, and wedding planner to the rich and famous, Raj.
Ultimate Wedding Planner begins on Tuesday at 9pm on BBC Two.
