Love Island bombshell Kady McDermott has defended 2023 winners Jess and Sammy after viewers brand their win as "a fix" following the final vote on Monday night.

The couple took the 2023 crown, pipping couples Whitney and Lochan, Ella and Tyrique and Molly and Zach to take the title of winners. Yet viewers watching the show slammed the final result as they questioned whether the result was "rigged".

Kady, who exited the ITV dating show earlier in the series, rose to the defence of the couple as she reminded fans that the Islanders are "real people with feelings" whilst adding that the couple "deserved to win more than anyone else".

Speaking on her Instagram, Kady slammed the accusations over Sammy and Jess' win being "a fix" as she wrote: "The comments I've seen all over socials with people arguing and not being happy who the winners of LI are is totally ridiculous. No one deserves to read this nasty stuff when coming out of the villa, everyone in the villa are real people with feelings. No one deserved to win more than anyone else, the finalists all deserved to win equally."

Shortly after Jess and Sammy were announced as the winners, people flocked to social media to share their views. One viewer tweeted: "WHAT !!! This show is rigged because there’s no way Sammy and Jess actually won over Whitney and Lochan. What kind of bad joke is this!!!"

Another added: "How did they win???? Sammy said Jess wasn’t attractive. They’ve been voted by the public to be in the bottom 3, the least favourite and compatible couple multiple times. Whitney and Lochan have been voted by the public AS THE FAVOURITE COUPLE. And they’ve never been bottom."

"That was wild! Jess & Sammy had nothing going. Whit & Lochan we’re solid af & carried this season just to be snubbed by Fiat 500," said a third. Another agreed as they wrote: "Maya I think that was a slip of tongue? What the hell is Jess and Sammy?"
