Liverpool have been active in the summer transfer window, but there is still plenty of work for Jurgen Klopp to do before the Reds' Premier League opener in two weeks' time.

The German has addressed the midfield issues that plagued his side last term by adding Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to his ranks, however, his options have been left depleted by the shock departure of club captain Jordan Henderson to Al-Ettifaq.

Numerous players are still being linked with the Reds, who kick off the new campaign with a trip to Chelsea in August. And with more transfer business expected at Anfield, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer gossip involving Liverpool...

Klopp closes in on wonderkid

Liverpool are close to agreeing a deal with Leicester City for 16-year-old wonderkid Trey Nyoni.

Nyoni, who has yet to make a senior appearance for the Foxes, qualifies for both the England and Zimbabwe national teams and has made a big impression in Leicester's Under-18 squad last term.

Liverpool have confirmed that Brazilian midfielder Fabinho has completed his transfer to Al-Ittihad in a deal which is believed to be worth around £40million.

Fabinho has been in talks over a lucrative switch to the Saudi Pro League for weeks - just like former Reds captain Jordan Henderson, who agreed to sign for Al-Ettifaq after being offered a staggering contract worth £700,000-a-week.

The 29-year-old, who spent five years at Anfield, joins Karim Benzema, N'Golo Kante and Jota in joining Al-Ittihad this summer.

Liverpool readying improved Lavia bid

Liverpool are ready to return to the table with an improved bid for Romeo Lavia in the hope of striking a deal with Southampton for their midfield starlet.

The 19-year-old has been linked with a whole host of Premier League clubs following the Saints' relegation last term. Lavia, who only joined the club from Manchester City last summer, was a rare bright spot in a dismal campaign.

It has widely been reported that Liverpool have already seen one offer for the Belgian playmaker rebuffed by Southampton in the transfer window.

But The Times are now reporting that Liverpool are set to return with a new and improved offer for Lavia, who has become a priority target following the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho. It remains to be seen, though, if a compromise can be reached with Liverpool reluctant to meet Southampton's £50million asking price.
